If someone where to open a cam site...

What type of software would be needed to run a cam site? What does it cost? are there free alternatives that are actually good to start? Trying to get as much info as possible.

oh, I know nothing's free. Just figured I'd throw the free option out there :)

this is just something a friend wants to start up and the money for this person is low so I'm trying to get her as much info as I can to see if it's possible to start up with not much $. I know in this case the cam site would not be great, but we all need to start somewhere, right? lol

oh and it's 2much.net. Just saw a show on showcase have to do with that.. Even saw Dugmor on that show

I'd probably suggest that you think about operating a studio somewhere besides Ontario (I'm assuming that's where you are thinking about it from your Location). There are so many obstacles but with a little bit of brain-storming I'm sure you can figure out the majority of them.

If you are serious about putting live performers on a site, I would recommend "leasing" your talent out to one of the many sites that let studios show their guys/girls first. This way you can learn a LOT about everything incl. the talent themselves, how much you can expect to earn (free chat vs. paid time), the little nuances like psycho customers, and so on.

obstacles such as?

Yngwie 11-11-2005 10:13 PM

I know it's not easy so I didn't tell her (the girl that's thinking about this) that it would be easy to do and that she would make a fortune quickly. That would be a huge lie.

I just checked 2much.net and the software runs from $3900 for 5 performers up to $12 000 for 45 performers.

stev0 11-11-2005 10:14 PM

yngwiecam.com? ;)

Yngwie 11-11-2005 10:17 PM

lol no, that would fail miserably haha

Yngwie 11-11-2005 10:18 PM

I mean, I'd be involved to help this girl out and everything since I have more experience in the adult industry then she does so she needs me for that at least. She just wanted me to get her some info. :)

Run searches on google and yahoo for what you need.

Research it and find out what works best for you :-)

I'm in the process of doing that, but figured I'd start a thread here to maybe speed up my research :)

Yngwie 11-11-2005 10:39 PM

hmmm.. only software I could find is the one offered by 2much.net. I honestly don't think that I will find anything really affordable that's worth even using to run a cam site.
