Legal Services

Does anybody know of a legal service where you pay like $100 a month or so and whenever you need their services they do it for free. Sort of like buying insurance...

There are services like this, just can't find any :(

it's called putting someone on retainer... and yeah..... there are some places that'll do it for certain things... (not all).... usually some very specific aspect of something.... (like, there's a company that will help you out anytime you need them if you get speeding tickets, and you just pay them a monthly fee to be there when you need them... court and such) but if you want blanket legal protection for any situation that may arise, you'd hafta put a lawyer on retainer.

No... I don't have any urls anymore... I used to.... but not now.... sorry... good luck.... wish you all the best in your search..... hope you find something that suits your needs... without too much trouble...

:thumbsup

It's called prepaid legal services. Go to prepaidlegal.com They can help you with business, contract, and other legal issues.

If you just need corporate paperwork or contracts, try legalzoom.com

Be warned, though, prepaid legal services are a lot like HMOs or budget health insurance. You pay money out the ass for a long time, but when you really need some legal services, what you need almost invariably turns out not to be covered, or at least not fully covered.

A lot of the programs are operated with the intent that they (or lawyers affiliated with them) will get your business for not-covered work. So they are not set up to actually DO much that's useful for you.

Others are more legitimate, but the actual legal services covered by the programs are still very sharply limited. Read the fine print. Read it again. Then cogitate for a moment on the thought that the fine print was written by a lawyer who was trying to conceal the fact that he isn't really obligated to give you much for your money. Then read it a third time.

If you still think the program will take care of the legal problems you are likely to encounter, then cross your fingers and pay the man. Good luck!
