wow, you're not kidding!

DWB 11-11-2005 07:34 PM

FUUUCCCKKKK!!!! That's a big place.

I can't wait to ride one of those puppies. I think United is putting one (or maybe already have it) from New York to Tokyo, or maybe even Bangkok if I remember right. Something about it was going to be the first place to do a direct flight to the US to Bangkok. I'll be on that bitch.

Damian_Maxcash 11-11-2005 07:36 PM

Damn - I didnt think that thing was going to be flying for a year or so.

Alex 11-11-2005 07:49 PM

Damn, i thinki am taking one in a few weeks, it is only international fights right?

LiveDose 11-11-2005 07:50 PM

Damn, nice shots. I heard about that today on tv...

Sly 11-11-2005 07:51 PM

I don't understand why they have been coming out with larger models lately. I think a couple of the other manufacturers are as well. I was under the impression airlines have been moving to smaller planes instead of the large ones.

I know over the next couple years there are some huge airplanes being released.

~Ray 11-11-2005 07:54 PM

that thing is ginormous!

LittleMack 11-11-2005 07:59 PM

That would be the most kick ass flight ever

internexxnl 11-11-2005 08:04 PM

pornguy 11-11-2005 08:05 PM

sltr 11-11-2005 08:07 PM

No, 747 is a Boeing jet... this is an Airbus. And the engines they put in these new birds are really fuel efficient.

gdog 11-11-2005 08:19 PM

WOW, amazing how something that big gets off the ground.

G

CuriousToyBoy 11-11-2005 08:22 PM

The Boeing 777 will replace the 747. The A380 is by Airbus.

chodadog 11-12-2005 02:16 AM

Regarding fuel efficiency:

"And the A380?s environmental friendliness does not stop at noise reductions. The economic fuel consumption of the A380 ? around 13 per cent lower fuel burn than its closest competitor ? will also help reduce the impact of exhaust gases on the atmosphere. Indeed, the A380 will be the first long-haul aircraft to consume less than three litres of fuel per passenger over 100 kilometres (95 miles per imperial gallon) ? a fuel burn comparable with the best of small modern turbo-diesel cars."

phonesex 11-12-2005 02:18 AM

that is really big.

Shoehorn! 11-12-2005 02:19 AM

Thats amazing.

The Other Steve 11-12-2005 02:44 AM

I don't think that any of these have been released to the airlines yet. The first flight by one was only a month or so ago just before the Paris Airshow if I remember correctly. And this one is only out here on a promo tour because Qantas has ordered 12 of them.

BlueDesign - I don't know about a workout room but they certainly do have a number of shops on the plane - we're talking about something that is as tall as a 7 storey building that can carry up to 800 people.

Nice shots Marty - I hear a thousand people turned out to see it come in.

Mr Pheer 11-12-2005 02:48 AM

I have a friend who was a 747 captain, who is now training to fly that plane for Northwest Airlines.

That's insanely large!!

LOL I like this pic here... reminds me of a little kid that is trying to hide in his all time fave hiding spot but has grown too large for it.... "I can't see you so you can't see me" is sorta what popped into my mind...

DK 11-12-2005 05:33 AM

Quantus better order 12 new hangers too!
Wonder if there will be Birger King or KFC on board?

abadfish 11-12-2005 06:24 AM

This flight to Australia is just a test flight. Scheduled commercial flights will not begin until late next year. The only North American airlines that have ordered one so far are Fedex and UPS so unless you are flying cargo you will be flying a foreign airline for the near future. Most US airlines are too cash strapped and have a different business model, where they focus more on frequency.

And although it could possibly have a gym, shop, food, etc on board except most airlines to pack it with as many economy seats as possible. $$$

Vitasoy 11-12-2005 06:36 AM

They don't call it a airbus for nothing ;)

nekrom 11-12-2005 06:38 AM

Any idea when? I'm only 15 mins drive from the airport. I wonder which runway it's landing on, I know of two spots where the aircraft passes directly over you...
