WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, Steve Buyer (R-Ind.), announced plans to eliminate annual congressional hearings for Veterans Service Organizations. Under Buyer?s plan, The American Legion and other Veterans Service Organizations would no longer be afforded the opportunity to present testimony before a joint hearing of the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees.

Not surprising really.
The President, our Commander in Chief, isn't a veteran.
Vice President Richard Cheney, a former secretary of defense, has been quoted as saying he had "other priorities'' during the Vietnam War. Not to mention, there are fewer veterans serving in Congress than in the past.

That's disgusting, but I am not shocked.

The ONLY thing that suprises me is that it's coming from a Republican from Indiana. I didn't know that being anti freedom of speach for VETS was a Republican platform.

Heh, you should look into why the GI Bill came about if you want some interesting reading. Disgruntled veterans weren't given money out of the kindness of government :winkwink:
