Theyve got the first season on the On Demand thingy. Worth checking out?

Not bad - bit hard to follow if you don't know the history behind the Roman Republic, but not bad at all.

I may burn the whole first season onto dvd.

I think it's pretty good... Typical HBO show

I like it alot, think they capture the spirit of that age very good.

It is very well acted and shot
the plot is easy to follow and generally very good,,
The sex scenes are shit though.

I think it's good it moves a medium pace - meaning there are no battle scenes it is all character driven. The sex scenes are different they seem to fuck slaves whenever they want and everybody seems to really like doggy style. If your think gladiator then you won't like it.

Two episodes into this on the BBC and I'm undecided. On the one hand, it's lavish. You can see where all the money has gone and it's not afraid to show lots of sex and violence. On the other, it's not especially engaging and lacks tension and suspense. With the exception of Polly Walker and Ciaran Hinds, most of the acting is pretty average.

I hope it sharpens up.

I've watched the first two episodes and they're pretty good.

Not sure I'll sit thru the rest of them...but who knows, I might be bored one day.
