Unix/Linux ... Sys Admin Question

Get the following results...

CPU states: 4.6% user, 0.0% nice, 0.4% system, 0.0% interrupt, 95.0% idle
Mem: 67M Active, 11M Inact, 38M Wired, 5876K Cache, 22M Buf, 552K Free
Swap: 240M Total, 156M Used, 84M Free, 64% Inuse

The last server I was on was a little different if I remember right.. How much total memory does this show on the server?

No you dont, I've got DNS servers that run on 64 megs just fine and handle millions of queries a day - size your machines appropriately and you'll save lots of money. Obviously, a database server will do well with more than 64 megs :)

They are saying it has 512 megs in there... I told them to add another 512, maybe they are mid process although you would usually shut the server down for that sort of thing...

Time will tell I suppose...

Tis a server running 3 domains that rely VERY heavily on MySQL - therein lies da problem :(
