Can we re-open our textile manufacturing companies, toy manufacturing companies, tools, trinkets & several other thousand products....& stop importing slave labor from china & india?

I mean seriously, i'm getting sick of it.

for the last 5 years, we've basically maxed out our US Credit credit cards. pretty easy to live high on the hog when it's borrowed money. what the hell do we even produce anymore? weapons and dollars?

Those jobs won't come back unless people are willing to pay for them and the higher costs of products at the counter.

well, perhaps an economy doesn't need smokestacks to be healthy. perhaps we really have evolved into 'the information age'. it's just too bad that this kind of shift really divides the haves from the have-nots. i feel for those currently liviing on RE-FIs and ARMs assuming that property values can only go up. hard times ahead for some. IMHO for what it's worth.

no doubt. well, we set up puppet gov'ts and force them to sign huge defense contracts in exchange for "protection". but it looks like the mideast is about to completely have a fundy revolution which could bring everything down. If the House of Saud falls into extremist hands... well.....

Everyone in this country moving into the information age would mean that the skill level of all employees who lost production jobs would have to increase dramatically. That probably will not happen. There is a large segment of the american population that has only worked in largely unskilled or ultra specifically skilled production jobs their entire lives. Right now it seems that their fate is sealed. I hope its not the case.

hence what i said - the divide between the haves and have nots will further increase. say g'bye to 'the middle class'. not a good thing.
