Longest you have ever stayed awake for?

Pushing 30 hours now... this is a weekly thing for me now...whats your best?

SilentKnight 11-10-2005 05:47 PM

Around 72 hours. Caused by killer tooth infections. The hallucinations towards the end were entertaining, tho :1orglaugh

After Shock Media 11-10-2005 05:50 PM

Should specify with or without the use of drugs.

ihcr 11-10-2005 05:50 PM

I was on a deadline once and had to stay on a job till it was completed. I woke up at 5:00Am and stayed up till 5pm the next day (36 hours) where I fell asleep leaning on a wall. I slept for about 90 minutes and then boom back to work.
Never again no matter how much money I am making. It took weeks to get back the sleep I missed

volante 11-10-2005 05:58 PM

4 days thanks to E.Coli poisoning - on the 3rd day I was admitted to hospital where I was getting pethidine shots every two hours. Apparently I still couldn't sleep, although I don't remember anything apart from the hallucinations - I was convinced the guy in the hospital bed next to me was a talking skeleton.

After Shock Media 11-10-2005 06:03 PM

My longest streach was 6 days. Had a bad infection that also came with chills, sweats, and body aches. Was in one ER (18 hours) and then ambulanced to the airport, taken to another ER via small plane, there I would wait in that ER for 23 hours before I was given a room and sent through a crap load of tests. On day six I was finally left alone for more than 10 minutes in a bed. I vaguely remember any of it, just audio halucinations and some visual. Several times I seriously thought I was just dead and stuck there. Seriously a very very bad ordeal.

Nicky 11-10-2005 06:04 PM

around 40 hours I think

PixeLs 11-10-2005 06:09 PM

24 hours and I felt like I was going to vomit then. :(

Mr. Jim 11-10-2005 06:13 PM

I drove stright through from Burbank to Effingham Illinois... I think it was 50 hrs and the omish carriage in the road that was not there forced me to pull over in this little town and i stoped at this road side bar next to the super 8 or the likes I stayed in...

When I told the bartender I met goodbye it was several hours later and how I appreciated her visit to the room.

The other was in Somalia it was three and half days I think....

Jarmusch 11-10-2005 06:19 PM

About 52 hours, don't get sleep deprived and drive. :)

:Oh crap Same here except I got closer to 4 days

Luc 11-10-2005 06:25 PM

2-3 times per week i work for 24 hours non stop. wake up at 8am and go to sleep for a few hours 8am the next day. for some reason my body went from needing a lot of sleep, say a year or two ago, to not needing any sleep at all. not sure what the fuck is going on. most of the time i manage without any coffee either.

northboy 11-10-2005 06:26 PM

you guys are nuts, there's no way i could do that..

Agnosticism 11-10-2005 06:28 PM

4.5 days and I had a full-time job during all of this. Was going to stay up another day but people were getting scared.

Jarmusch 11-10-2005 06:33 PM

Fact: The world record for time without sleep is 264 hours (11 days) by Randy Gardner in 1965.

Tala 11-10-2005 06:37 PM

wow.

I think the longest I've stayed awake has been somewhere around 34 hours.

com 11-10-2005 06:40 PM

9 days and hours... heavily caffeinated

rip raster 11-10-2005 06:40 PM

around 10 days after coming off of a long stint on pain killers

Mike Okitch 11-10-2005 06:40 PM

About 36 hours before I started to puke. Felt much like what one would feel like after a night of binge drinking, everything blurry, head in the bucket before being forced into hitting the hay.

d00t 11-10-2005 06:45 PM

10 days with no sleep ?? what the fuck ?

com 11-10-2005 06:45 PM

after 6 or 7 days its surreal
edit: i think after 9 days you risk perm. brain damage, that could be all hearsay though

BigCashCrew 11-10-2005 06:52 PM

Speaking of this, has anyone seen The Machinist? that's a good movie.

The longest I've gone is a little over 24 hours. That's the worst feeling I've ever had.

dready 11-10-2005 06:55 PM

6 hours sleep in 7 days when I was in the army.

The guy that holds the world record came out unharmed and remained coherent during the press conference.

LittleMack 11-10-2005 06:59 PM

Downtime 11-10-2005 07:01 PM

HDADULT 11-10-2005 07:01 PM

Sosa 11-10-2005 07:02 PM

30 hours or so. I can't pull that shit anymore though.

imageman 11-10-2005 07:06 PM

80 hours while working in the film industry. Started feeling weird at the end of the final day. Only needed 8 hours sleep and was back at work. Not something i wish to repeat.

Linkster 11-10-2005 07:33 PM

Classified? :winkwink:

Peaches 11-10-2005 07:37 PM

I used to not be able to sleep on a plane. A few years ago we were coming back from Hawaii. We had an 8 hour layover in San Francisco so I rented a car and we drove around (and I got a ticket for running a red light - bastards). Then we flew to Cinncinati for another few hours and then back to ATL. All in all I was up around 36 hours.

When I got home my maid was cleaning the house and thank goodness she had already done the upstairs because we crashed for about a day and a half I never even heard her leave. The dogs were in the kennel so I didn't have to get up to feed them or take them out. It was a good sleep :)

Spunky 11-10-2005 07:43 PM

Not more than 18 hours..I needs my sleep

adultchica 11-10-2005 07:45 PM

I think the longest is 42 hours when I was stupid and bought some nodoz pills at a gas station so I could stay up into the night driving on a long trip.

Boy did I regret that. I got home and I was so wired that I turned on techno fucking music and watched Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas LOL

ozmatt 11-10-2005 07:47 PM

about 70 hours for me

sexyclicks 11-10-2005 07:49 PM

I spent 5 days with only 4 hours of sleep (drugs). When I came home the bed that my brother was sleeping broke and the whole thing collapsed on me (double bunker beds). I didn't wake up. The next day I went to the dentist and fell asleep again while having a cavity fixed.

ddfGandalf 11-10-2005 07:52 PM

round 62hrs...then slept 24 hrs:P

Jer 11-10-2005 07:53 PM

I slept only 8 hours in 4 or 5 days in November 2002. I was working on my last year's advertising college project. I think I didn't sleep for a bit less than 2 days.

This kills your brain. I don't recommend it, I just didn't have a choice :(

Jer 11-10-2005 07:54 PM

Forgot to say our project was a success! :)
