Well, this sucks.

Yesterday I get an email from my dad informing me that my mother had gone in for a standard eye exam, and the doctor found some mass on her left eye. She had no pain, but felt like a film was building over it. They checked for cataracts, but it wasn't that, so the doctor sent her to UCLA for a second opinion.

Well, apparently they discovered that she has melanoma on that eye, and now they are going to have to remove it.

RayVega 11-10-2005 04:41 PM

Sorry to hear that. My old man lost his left eye when I was 8. For the rest of his life he battled a lifting retina in the good eye, real pain in the ass.

Gook luck, hope it works out for the best.

brand0n 11-10-2005 04:42 PM

that fucking sucks ass bro

best wishes to her, speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear that baddog. Having your parents go through something like that is almost as bad as when it's your kids. Best wishes to your mom.

A very serious form of skin cancer. I have had it for years, and just blown it off. Guess I am going to have to rethink this position.

This really sucks baddog. Sorry for the news.

Hopefully it's something that can be fixed and she will recover soon.

They fix it by removing the eye, and giving her a glass one.

KRL 11-10-2005 05:52 PM

My ex was treated at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA when she got a major corneal infection.

You should take her to Bradley R. Straatsma, MD who is their top specialist for Ocular Melanoma and the head of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Yeah, that is why I don't go to doctors. Ignorance is bliss kind of thing.

Takes something like this to wake you up I guess.

I could deal without a toe, or finger, or dying even, but losing my sight would kind of fuck up my life as I know it.

SilentKnight 11-10-2005 06:21 PM

Sorry to hear about that, dude. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your mom.

My parents are inchin' towards their 70s...and having more and more medical issues every day.

Aging sucks. Hope the surgery goes well.

Yikes, that's harsh. I hope it's as painless as possible.
