How amateur? Never looked at a camera before? Color-blind? Couldn't compose a photo to save his life? Have you tried the halfway houses for mentally-challenged people, the nursing homes, etc.?

Unfortunately, he felt your credentials were better. You got the job.

We tried some homeless people, but their stench scared the girls away :)

What we mean by amateur, is someone who does not consdier themselves a professional photographer.

"Pros" have too many preconceived notions about how to take pictures. If you use a light meter, spend 5 minutes setting up a shot, spend 50 hours color correcting your images, and Elinchrom lights, you probably are not what we are looking for.

If you want to make works of Art, do not apply, just wallow in your low tax braket.

Plugger, maybe you should try to hire ex-photojournalists. We are used to subjects that don't listen to us, working with poor light and working under deadline. :winkwink:

Well, I guess at the risk of confirming a lot of people's suspicions about me, I must be a non-professional. I don't own a light meter (the one in the camera on "P" mode seems to work pretty well), I shoot an average of 2.5 shots a minute. The only disqualification is that my shots look pretty good to most people.

I'll keep my eyes open for the kind of guy who'll give you the crap you're looking for.

On the other hand, visit my site, and if my stuff isn't too good for you, let's talk.

NO kidding, i heard he once spent 36 straight hours moving a lamp around his living room to try and get the right lighting for a shot.

Yeah, what's so magical about The West Coast. If you look at a map, Chula Vista, California, is about equally far from Seattle and the southern tip of Texas.

hmmm....i guess i should tell my friends who are making photographic art and hanging in some of the most prestigious galleries in the world that their photo's, some selling for as little as $300,000 each, should not apply and just to wallow in their low tax bracket

or maybe you should look up Jeff Wall, Diana Thorneyxxxxx, Cindy Sherman and tell them yourself
:winkwink:

Rocky 03-18-2002 03:43 AM

hmmm, i'd bet my life that Diana Thorneyxxxxx has never been here so i can only assume that the work "xxxxx" has been banned
