Paysite owners, what do you get when you buy DVD content?

Are you getting the DVD converted ready for web use so all you have to do is load it to your servers. Or are you getting the disc for you to convert?

Answers please.

Depends on who you are buying from and how big the order is. Everything is negotiable.

What he said.

If you're willing to pay for it almost any broker will do encoding for you to your specs so you can basically just plug the content into your server and go.

Exactly.

Barring .avi or raw files, specs presented to the producar and delivered as stated is a huge deal. I have somewhere around 40k worth of content that would work in a member's area (basic, one res/speed option), but it would take me months to break it down into all the correct resolustions and file sizes for use for promotion, caps, and multi-speed offerings.

If a producer only offers a deal on one setting, I would rather it be .avi so I could dupe it down to whatever I need to for my MA and promotional materials. If the producer was willing to negotiate, I would provide a list of every use/option I would need for a turn-key solution.

One way or another it would cost them or me time or money, and those things are directly affecting the cost of the original content.

I'm looking to put them up on the content store. Got a lot of contacts in the DVD business and thinking about offering their content to paysites.

Need to know if the paysite owners want it ripped or off the DVD.

Ripped in as high-quality mpg's or avis as possible.

2 prices 1 for dvd only (customer encodes) and 1 for customer who requires encoding in multiple formats.

Personally I prefur just the dvd's we do our own encoding ourselfs at very high rates so have no use for preencoded stuff

I can get a much higher version off the tapes than you can off the DVD. DVD is already compressed and ripping it off the DVD will compress it again.

Can you hit me up on ICQ so we can talk about this please.

Yeah but it's being encoded for web use anyways so it's not like you need better than DVD quality for the source file anyways

I know that, just need to know what quality is needed.

Seems going both ways would work, offer the DVD ro rip yourself at one price and the edited version ready for uploading.

I know the new stuff we do ourselves is pretty good quality.
