i'd have to say... time to close the door. no new webmasters from now on.

its cool for sponsors... more partners, more traffic. hosts? more webmasters, more data transfer, more money for them.

but for the average webmaster, competition is increasing. it won't do, its getting harder. skilled webmasters will survive... weak webmasters, webmasters with no patience or talent... they'll disappear. i keep myself to myself, i don't whinge, and the money is good, but it would be better without competition. i have people stealing my content, designs, layouts, graphics, ideas... it would be better if they'd just fuck off and leave it to the professionals. but more webmasters arrive, the cheater to honest webmaster ratio gets worse.

you should at least give newbies the time that it takes to be able to become a pro... remember you also were a newbie once

a lot of the time, i use css on my pages to get rid of the underline. i'd post an example link, but some fucknut would only steal the layout. so fuck it.

anyway... i get referrers showing in my stats at the sponsor, where people have swiped my html page, not realised that the non underlined text is a link, and left my link code in there. then it shows up in the sponsor stats if a visitor happens to click on it. people are so fucking stupid.

seems that webmasters from ex-soviet nations especially like my shit. most of the time i'll do a whois on the domain, and the address will be something like russia or turkey. theres a lot of good webmasters from these countries... i could name some here, but thats beside the point. the cheaters make it bad for the good webmasters from these countries, just the same as idiot newbies give a bad name to the newbies that can actually think for themselves.

now, could someone recommend a good freehost? i'm fuckin' dying here.

i've given good advice to newbies and i know that for a fact when they icq me back saying something like... their first ever gallery just made 4 sales within a day. lots of other webmasters give good advice too, like the regulars at tomsnewbiebooster.com

what do i think of this industry?

i really think alot of people in this industrie have no clue what buisness is about.

buisness is evil , mom and pop "newbies" stores go under by the thousands every day. becuase they can not afford to play the game

buissness is a game of chess if you cant play the game you will loose.

i think there alot of unexpeirenced people in this game. and thats life they will come and go by the thousands . but there will always be a few newbies that kick ass and that will bring good things to the game.

in any industrie you have cry babies me personly have had my construction equipment burned to the ground on several occassion becuase some co. got so pissed i played the game better then them . same in this industie people that cant play the game so they steal and cheat to try and win. when they cant win they may finnaly learn that like in any buissness you need friends to help you succeed

i personaly think most of the people around here forget to read the name of this place when you enter "Fucking Around & Program Discussion " and the boards called go fuck yourself "
not "help me make money " so you have guys like amp and bone and alot of others that just come here to blow of steam and fuck with people cuase its funny. and they probably are really nice people if you meet them in a diffrent area of the biz.

Every one of the people doing well atm have for sure deserved it, when the money rolls in its seems easy but then you can forget how much of a fucker it was to setup in the first place.

Anyhow I think the future of this biz will be neato... I'm predicting that the whole reality TV thing will transfer over to the web -- same w/ Jerry Springer and fucking Howard Stern types -- they will be replaced and/or morph to the web -- the content will be much more extreme -- why waste their time on fucking TV w/ censorship -- people want to see what's behind the blur...

Everyone has predicted that once the bandwidth is there we will move to video -- but I think we are just only now starting to see a glimmer of exciting/creative video content... and why not...? half the kids on Venice beach have a video camera recording ass after ass after ass...

Where do the traders stand in this biz -- I still see still pics, animated .GIF, small vid clips being used as a means to "preview" all this new video content... right now there are dozens of sites pulling down millions of visitors/day just giving out stolen video content (on stolen bandwidth) that's been ripped off of video or DVD... fuck them... but can you blame them really? The demand is there! Just not much original content to offer these bandwidth hungry surfers. The old-school video companies don't seem very interested in providing much in the way of referral programs (too greedy and short-sighted?) -- they will be fucked over and left behind just like Playboy was until they see how much money they are losing -- then they will turn around and play copycat...

The content will get more and more extreme -- and more extreme = creative -- there will be too many exclusive content type sites out there for investors to jump in with just a bag of cash for the content providers and graphics designers. That day is over already. I think soon we'll see guys in the hood, the farm, trailer parks, 3rd world countries making more cash than anyone dreamed before... Eventually the CC processors will see this and start cutting the big mega-paysites out of the loop -- maybe something like IFriends is already a step toward this evolution...?
All barriers to entry will be gone eventually -- w/ a Walmart video camera in hand and your toothless wife, you too can accept cash over the net and retain members and all the revshare shit will be automated to hell by some crafty programmers. Already we are seeing infomertials on TV w/ instruction video tapes on how to get search engine placement, etc. etc...

The content providers will rule the earth -- as they should... I think you will find fewer content companies willing to sell the good stuff... it won't be needed anyway -- there will be more free content online than ever before (this is what we are seeing now -- almost everyone I know is launching a paysite -- I got more free content than I could ever know what to do with...)

Everyone is tired of centerfold models and makeup -- it's plain as day to see how gritty amateur sites have dominated over the fake and generic Playboy type stuff -- reality TV will never match the reality of internet porn -- real people on the streets w/ digital cams and low budgets getting freaky... The people on the front end of this movement will bank. I think this will change our culture forever. Sitcoms will die w/ the babyboomers.

Well a lot of this has already happened -- that's my 10 cents.

Overall you can still make money, time dedication and 40hr weeks will get you there..

its not possible to get rid of tgp's and free pic sites...
it has become a standard, only a big force (like a law or something) can do something about it.. (which is not likely gonna happen)... or maybe if bandwidth was a lot more expensive, they would go away. but again its also getting cheaper and cheaper everyday.

can anyone find the next million dollar idea? maybe a site type that is as easy to build up (trafficwise) as a tgp and makes more money, and doesnt give out free porn?

if you prove that they're gonna make more money in the short- and the long run without putting much effort to it, everyone will convert their tgp's, believe me..

I don't think there's any reason to blame the TGP's -- this is an old argument but the fact is that TGP's make buttloads of money for paysites and if this was not the case -- they would not bother spending so much time and money on reviews, bandwidth, etc. etc... I don't think anyone can disagree: a video is more compelling than a pic -- pics are here to stay -- and pics sell videos! I don't think we will need to worry about a TGP offering full length video *as long as* TGPs know they can make same or better profit w/ posting picture galleries using less bandwidth -- a thumbnail gallery *is* and always will be just a preview... the proof is why so many TGP webmasters post to themselves! As video revshare proggies become more pervasive and as bandwidth matures, TGP's will bank more than ever off picture galleries...
