Digital Camera Questions...
I just bought a Cannon Powershot G2, and wanted to know what size memory cards I should buy and how many.
It comes with a 32mb card. Do you recomment a few 128mb cards? or 2 256mb cards? Thanks |
2 256mb cards

How the fuck is anyone supposed to answer that question when you tell us NOTHING about what you plan on doing, especially how many photos you are going to shoot, at what size (resolution), etc.?
By all means, get a 256Mb card and shoot at 600x400 and you'll probably grow fingernails a foot long before you fill it up. |
Great camera choice. At the low price of CF cards these days, the large cards will not hurt. Myself and AWC have had good luck with these cards and the price is damn good too.

Did I mention I just shoot my kid, wife and cats. Did I mention non-nude (except the cats)

Seriously, you think it'd be too bad for WEB content?

I don't have a set thing I want to photograph, it will vary but after researching this camera had a shitload of features that were to my liking and the camera didn't look stupid (sony that I was considering) or too bulky. |

I know they have a 1gig microdrive that would be nice just is a little pricey. Aaron do you think http://cititronics.com/Product-detail.asp?ProductID=94 this is a good deal since I need to buy a reader anyhow and they run like $40-60. So it means at $155 - $60 means i pay like $90 for a 340mb? |
You might also want consider getting the 16X flash cards

when i bought my cf card from staples.... i think it was pny brand, it says right on the back of the package how many pictures it holds and and what resolution. theres a good deal on amazon for a 256 meg compact flash here:

oh yeah, make sure you have a backup too. it would really suck to be in the middle of a shoot and have your card fill up or go bad.

I bought a Sony F707 and got all the bells and whistles. Any tips on shooting indoors with it? The skin tones seem to be a little funny.. and if I use a flash it is even worse..
Any hints? Someone told me digital indoors is never that good unless you drop serious bread on the camera or lighting must be perfect.. Like 10kish.. |
My 2 cents:
Get several cards at least 64megs or higher. I can squeeze about 100 pics @ 2160 x 1440 on a 64 meg card and double that on 128 meg card (duh) Take note that CF cards have different write speeds like Plugger said. (faster is better) IMO especially if your into action photography and shooting super hi res. I have a IBM microdrive coming as a rebate and am looking forward to using it, like to hear some feedback from others on these things like write speed, reliability, etc.... I would be scared as hell to put a whole days shoot on 1 unit whether it be a card or a micro drive. Not to smart in my opinion. That would definitely be putting all your eggs in one basket! |
