How Did The Hun Do It?

Thehun.com is the only TGP that DOES NOT do any link trades. How the fuck does a site that doesn't do any link trades get the most traffic???

Word of mouth? C'mon, what the fuck? :Buck:

Pipecrew 03-17-2002 10:19 AM

Why dont you email him.... He has been around forever, Word has it, Jesus helped build his site... Its all about bookmarkers, link exchanges and search engine popularity! and listing non bullshit galleries (thanks for denying my overused content one HUN :) haha)

It might be the fact that the guy has been offering free porn reliably since 1996.
It might be because he's satan.
How should I know. ask him, I'm sure he'll answer.

Time on the job, being one of the first, branding and trust.

A year ago I was telling one of my friends what I did on the net, he was pretty kewl about it, when I asked him if he knew any porn sites, he said, yeah, The Hun!... he doesn't even speak a word of english.

Mike Semen 03-17-2002 10:45 AM

First porn site i ever heard of back in 98 was...The Hun.

Word of mouth, baby!

Ron2k1 03-17-2002 11:54 AM

I think it's the yellow color

Dopy 03-17-2002 12:12 PM

Study the Huns site a little harder then think again. There are several components on the site that make it a happy haven, one of them is very unique.
Its like the story of Old Joes hardware store, the place looks like a bomb hit it but Old Joe knows exactly where everything is and can also tell you what?s best for the job.

kai-tracid 03-17-2002 12:15 PM

`He used to be in click called the hun specialty.
AFter of few years he started doing porn. Not those patrioatic americans like crazy people. So why do you bother accessing those crazy lines like that. Kill the body and the head will die.

Bobo 03-17-2002 12:28 PM

Ok, I think it's because he was one of the first. Second, the name is unique (what is a hun? - short for hunter???) and therefore memborable.

But SE traffic? There is no such thing as far as I know. My site is among the top ten in a Yahoo search (I got listed before you had to pay for it) and I only get about 600-700 hits/day from it.

Must be word of mouth. True, he has daily jokes which is also unique.

Does anybody know if he ever did link trades??? I heard that he use to link directly to sites and not just galleries. Is this true?

Thanks for all your input guys!

He was an early pioneer of the TGP concept. There's a term for this in marketing--early mover advantage. The enterprise that perfects a model and executes it early on gets majority market share.

There are other alternatives out there.... and I'm not talking TGP2... which one will become the next "paradigm", we'll see.

He also had "Lady Luck" on his side :)

Everyone needs luck to get big online.

Bobo 03-17-2002 12:37 PM

Frank,

I think you're right. He was a pioneer and I think that because he was a pioneer he earned a loyal viewership.

In turn, I think he probably gets a lot of free exposure from marketers online and offline who want to advertise in the adult market. Word of mouth on this type of scale (such as in magazines, TV interviews/documentaries etc) could do the trick in keeping him at number 1.

Hard consistent work and a grown up no BS approach.

Whom of you would still PERSONALLY review galleries if he were where the hun is now? None, including me!

Must be because if you say Hun backwards its Nuh, and that explains pretty much, doesnt it?

greentea 03-17-2002 01:25 PM

Its the background color!

:321GFY

Bobo 03-17-2002 01:33 PM

It ain't the goddam color. I made a thousand sites with a yellow background and everybody told me they deliberately did not bookmark my site because of the annoying yellow background!

dude, it's the fine mixture of everything I guess :thumbsup

morale of the story:
no matter how shitty your site looks, you can still make it to the very top ...

Bobo 03-17-2002 01:53 PM

HAHAHAHA! Equinox, the hun is gonna kick your arse for that one!

LoveAsianChicks 03-17-2002 02:08 PM

I like the site thehun.com - but his success is mostly because his site has been around from the very start. He also doesn't try to trick the surfer or fill his galleries with blind links etc...

with that being said, if thehun.com started out today, I don't think it would be anything special and struggling for traffic.
(with the no link trade concept)

Its all about timing for sure.
Like if you invested in Microsoft when they were brand new, you would be stinking RICH Today.
- but now you can throw 10K at that company and it won't really go up & up.
