Water Cooling Kit for PC silence

Who has water cooling? Is it worth it?

http://www.quietpc.com/uk/watercooling.php

Not for overclocking reasons.

Only £186 ($320) :Oh crap

ejeet 11-09-2005 10:43 AM

Also a HD enclosure to shut that SATA drive the fuck up:

I know a few people that own the Zalman kit.. It works perfectly.. No noise and the cpu temps are equal or lower than with air.. It's a great kit, but a bit expensive considering what you get..

Sounds good, I already have this case but it doesn't help with CPU fan noise:

IIRC, it's best to run the system for 24hours when you first get it to make sure there are no leaks in the tubes before installing it.

You don't put water in your car?

That different it was originally designed for that, you blow hose. The car overheats you fixed it , use water to wash the coolant off the motor and your fine.

dready 11-09-2005 11:39 AM

I'm happy with just my Sonata case. The problem I have with most HDD silencers and coolers is that they require 5.25" mounting. I don't have the room for all my drives!

Yeah I know :)

The Reserator is cool but there are MUCH better kits out there... couple a high end kit (for around the same price as the Reserator) with an Antec P180 case and you have one badass system. The P180 case has an extra compartment for holding the radiator inside the case (or a 2nd power supply)

Any links to good kits?
I want a full kit without having to purchase each part, I know a custom system would be better but I don't have the time to put it together :Oh crap

Once I install the system can I easily remove it and put it in a new case? That Antec P180 looks sexxy :winkwink:

ejeet 11-09-2005 11:44 AM

I'm sure there was a water cooled PSU on quietpc.com but I can't seem to find it anymore :(

I will be using liquad cooling for it. You can get an electric spray that you spray all of your components with in case of a leak. Leaks are extremely rare though and will almost never happen if you set the system up right.

Baker Rd 11-09-2005 11:48 AM

Nice system jdavis, don't forget to cool those Muskin's:

:)

Baker Rd 11-09-2005 12:11 PM

jdavis, since you have all that money to spend, replace that Lian-Li case with the new Tai-Chi (includes water cooling kit)

I saw on not long ago with an a/c unit built in. the ac unit was about 1k, but kept the inside tepm at 60 degrees.

I've seen a couple... I would be far more scared of an A/C unit producing condensation than a water cooling kit leaking

Here is one that came out this month:

or how about a mini A/C slot? lol...

*** DON'T GET THE Geforce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card with 450MHz Core and 1250MHz Memory... GeForce are releasing a 512mb Ultra in the next few days and all prices will drop. I'm regretting buying 2 GeForce 7800GTX Ultra Extreme - 490mhz / 1300mhz now.. waste of money.

Good to know, thanks :thumbsup

I don't play much games but I ordered BattleField 2 yesterday, as I get very bored sometimes :Oh crap

BTW, I ordered Zalman RESERATOR1-PLUS kit, thanks for the advice GFYers :pimp

Cool! Another product of someone's ingenuity. :thumbssup.

ejeet 11-11-2005 12:47 PM

UPDATE:

I had it delivered today and installed it, awesome :thumbsup :thumbsup

90% of the noise gone, all left is tiny hum from the two SATA drives. I'll be purchasing those HD enclosures next week.

Rui 11-11-2005 01:30 PM

stay away from ThermalTake crap...piss poor performance+noise....

If you want silence you dont need watercooling, a simple and affordable Zalman will do the job ;)

Big_Papi 11-11-2005 04:02 PM

Just picked up one of these. Great for air cooling and the fan is virtually silent. Even turned all the way up I can barely hear it sitting right next to me.

http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/...65&code=005009

Asetek makes some good water cooling kits at ok prices, depnding on where you get it. Has everything you need.

Thermaltake sonictower = no noise!

I got it and slapped a slow ultra-quiet 120mm fan on the side just for the air flow, makes absolutely no noise.
