Where do you live? Diesel oil here in Western Europe is cheaper, but is a lower quality fuel than gasoline. Diesel engines are also weaker and make more noise, I like to go fast so it's not for me.

Diesel is actually more expensive than petrol in the UK.

My car doesn't have a diesel engine, so there's your answer.

Diesel fuel is partly refined gasoline and oil, it makes it cheaper to produce, but when the demand increases the prices can drive higer than gas, You can get better MPG with diesel, but less hp. Torque figures with diesel engines are usually about the same or better. :2 cents:

price is pretty similar, so thats not an issue...fuel consumption also isnt one

Diesel TDI... gets 1100KM per tank. Service is annual. Can run Bio-Diesel. Duty cycle is unbelievable. Torque is through the roof. How can you beat it?

quiet engine, even though diesel engines are pretty quiet nowadays, but petrols are better too, so you almost dont hear them. a more comfortable start, especially in the winter.
