The Best Coffees

Well perhaps they aren't the best coffees but they surely are my favorites.

1) Community Coffee - All varieties, esp ones with Chicory.
2) Eight O'Clock Coffee- Hazlenut whole bean, fresh ground.
3) Gevalia - Chocolate Raspberry
4) Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee
5) Starbucks French Roast

Right now I'm hooked on Bicafé, especially their Seleccao. Strong but very smooth. Perfect for both Espresso and Cappuccino :)

as much as i hate to say it, i like some flavors of starbucks.

specifically their 'sumatra'. it's a darker, pungent coffee. good for after dinner or on those hard mornings.

BigCashCrew 11-08-2005 11:04 AM

haha, i'm a fan of folgers coffee :) being in seattle has spoiled me though...

Porterrun 11-08-2005 11:04 AM

My first and only cup of coffee from Starbuck's was nasty. I've never been back. Still, they must have something going for them or they wouldn't be taking over the world.

Starbucks has a unique flavor and aroma. I thought the same thing the first time I drank it but much like being an afficionado of other fine things I base my judgement on it's qualities as a product rather than just how it compares to what may or not be a proper product standard.

I only get coffee from starbucks, the only one near the office

loxapinedreams 11-08-2005 07:43 PM

i agree jamaica blue mountain coffee is great when i have extra cash to spend.
otherwise papua new guinea coffee is good and celebes coffee better yet.
I roast my own coffee. I have a a roaster does a cup of beans in under ten minutes.
Its possible to use a hot air popcorn popper to roast.. just do it outside as the oil from the beans will smoke the shit out of the house or flat. I had the building super call the fire guys one time

nine minutes after the first crack of the beans should give you a strong espresso roast
7 minutes a decent french roast
5 minutes a medium
3 minutes light roast.

roast the beans.. and let them de gass for a week ..anything sooner you will have funny tasting coffee.
and to prove the degassing... place the fresh roast in a zip lock bag and watch the bag swell. or a tupperware container..it will blow the lid off!

miss wild 11-09-2005 06:44 AM

EroticySteve 11-09-2005 09:57 AM

I'm digging the last of my Eight O'Clock Hazlenut for today. I have a cup before I leave and keep an insulated mug on my desk, usually lasts me until lunch. Great stuff. I now grind my beans fresh before brewing. It's the best way to go.
