when people say "i'm looking for beta testers"

they mean :

that they have no affiliates, and they want to get some affiliates but want to make it look not as hurting.. by saying they are looking for beta testers it makes them look they arn't accepting just anybody, and want to tweak it before they release it to everyone... when in fact, they will accept anyone who inquires to be a "beta tester"

i know because i did the same thing.

:) :upsidedow :)

Furious_Male 11-07-2005 06:32 PM

Well that isnt the case all the time.

If a long standing established program asks for beta testers for a new site that would be a legit "beta test".

They already have plenty of affiliates.

Kard63 11-07-2005 06:33 PM

If its their first paysite and they probably actualy have concerns. If its their 2nd I imagine you are right.

Machete_ 11-07-2005 06:33 PM

So did I - seriously - we all have to start somewhere

yes sir:)

furious: sorry i forgot to mention "new programs"

btw, i'm not saying its a bad thing.... its a good way to get the word out about your program.. cause there are often people that get interested in beta testing... since it gives them an edge before it gets saturated :)

BV 11-07-2005 06:36 PM

this thread is useless without pics

adultchica 11-07-2005 06:39 PM

I have been doing a beta program for flynt digital.

And they have plenty of affiliates :-)

I knew what you meant. I was just adding to the conversation. :)

Actually this is funny, we are working on our affiliate system (for a few paysites, not the site in my sig) and we will be looking for a few beta testers. We did not plan on taking just anyone, we are planning on taking a select group of "interested" people and let them go through it all and tell us what is missing and what is not needed.

You can look at it if you want http://www.spunkydolars.com we will be asking for a few TGP owners, gallery submitters free site owners etc.

We are sincire when we ask for beta testers, once they think it works fine and we did what we needed to do to make it 110% we will ofcourse ask for more people to help promote, but why ask for that right away. I believe there is only one person that makes any sponsor program succesfull and that is the affiliate. And that is the person I want it to test and give me ideas and pointers.

Just my 2 cents

well i must commend you on using this thread to your advantage :thumbsup

so if you don't mind me asking, for example... if i could send 1 signup a week, you wouldn't let me beta test?

wedouglas 11-07-2005 06:48 PM

If the program is under promoted, I try it. I "beta test" as much as I can. Usually good conversions. :2 cents:

Your link doesn't work. I'd throw you a bunch of traffic to test though.

Machete_ 11-07-2005 06:51 PM

its the same thing EVERY day with sonofsam - ALWAYS trying to start shit or drama.. such a troll

.. kidding

Sebastian Sands 11-07-2005 06:51 PM

Hi SonofSam, well what I was thinking would be 2 weeks of "testing" it is also the timeframe that we will launch another site to the protfolio and then we hoped we would be 110% with the affiliate program with 3 sites in it. (all exclusive content). In that time (and I don't mean to sound like I don't need it) i do not care as much about the amount of sign ups you can give. I care about the constructive critisizm I can get from you during that time. Rip it apart (constructively) and then help me in the right direction. Now I am not sayingthat I have no clue about what we are doing here, I have a few sites a TGP a fake TGP (hub) the site in my sig, and now working on 6 pay sites as well as this affiliate program.

So the answer to your question would be yes, i will let you beta test. But I do expect some feedback.

okay no offense, but that's exactly what my thread was about... if you would let a person who can only send 1 signup a week, then it means its not really exclusive to a select few...

now if you want constructive criticism, i can do that also without joining the program...

list some links, would be cool to take a look and give some feedback (in a constructive way)

please don't take offense to what i said, like me and ebus both said... its nothing to be ashamed of... everyone does it man :) including us

Sebastian Sands 11-07-2005 07:00 PM

woj 11-07-2005 07:09 PM

I never asked for beta testers. I just knew from experience how to convert your traffic :thumbsup

But I do agree with you

Sebastian Sands 11-07-2005 07:30 PM

there is also spunkbucks and spunkmoney A few of our sites have the "spunk" in their domains. So that's why.

ahh gotcha... didn't know spunky was a common affiliate name...

anyways, you have some nice looking sites :thumbsup

do you guys have a lot of in house traffic to get them off the ground??

when i started out with my paysite i had 0 inhouse traffic, but it worked out okay for me

Sebastian Sands 11-07-2005 07:36 PM

well we have a few TGP's and fake tgp's that have "nice" traffic. I am not saying LOADS but we have some to get things going. The site in my sig pretty much financed the whole thing. Including the shooting of content that we do. So i can't complain.

brand0n 11-07-2005 07:37 PM

maybe a drawing to illustrate what you mean

i think you can get away with that with single girl sites, becasue those webmasters are always looking for new girls. I doubt you could get away with no inhouse traffic doing some hardcore dvd rip sites.

We shoot our own content. No ripping or bought content period.

brand0n 11-07-2005 09:16 PM

this is easy, have like thousands of people talking to 1 person and that 1 person saying " want to be one of the few beta testers" and all the people saying YES!

Sebastian Sands 11-07-2005 09:33 PM

I think the serious guys don't just sign up with any sponsor program out there.

you may be wrong here, there are peeps who build paysites only to convert their own traffic, but decide that it won't hurt to have some affiliates e.g. some folks they know, but they are not (yet) actively looking for affiliates. IMO those programs which are in beta testing but have a shitty webmaster program site are usually better than those poping up from nowhere with a $40/signup, 25 shiny niche sites and flash webmaster program site which disappear after 8 month without paying.

just my :2 cents: though.

Nylz 11-11-2005 06:30 AM

sonofsam hit me up, I'm looking for beta testers
