Control Panel is a scam

Why use linux and pay $20 to $30/mo to use control panel (cPanel or similar)? It is no different than paying microsoft the exact same amount to lease their software. :1orglaugh

People who use control panel = 0wn3d

Time is money my friend.

And my times worth more then $30 a month.

cpanel saves 10-20 hours easilly in a month.

Some people just don't know enough to not use a control panel. If it saves you time then it is worth it.

Most large hosts offer free control panels on most plans now days.

If you are proficient with whatever OS you are using then a control panel isn't necessary.

Simple, and to the point. Well said.

Depends of your skills ... I personally don't mind paying that bit of extra $...

It's worth the money in the time it saves

Man, do I sympathize with this thread... About 3 weeks ago, one of the Cpanel license servers crashed and my email was fux0r3d for several days.

Like somebody else said

c panel saves time and makes life alot easier for people with a lack of server skill

Personally I like webmin, its free and it overlays the OS rather than alter it in any way. I still do alot of commandline stuff, but sometimes its easier to just open webmin and do it (like sql stuff)

like others say it just makes everything easier. People could easily pull over and ask for directions but they buy navigation systems so they don't have to get out of the car instead.
