YARGH! Amazon! Great idea.

While updating one of my AutoBlogger Pro sites I saw this:

Amazon To Sell Chapters Like iTunes Sells Songs

Pretty cool idea.

Why buy a chapter when google is soon to upload hundreds of thousands of books as searchable pdfs?

I can't wait for that. I hope the issues are resolved soon because the research revenue potential will be enormous.

You are not going to see a novel or other book that was just released scanned into google. One of the things amazon thinks this will be best for is for all the cooks out there that want to buy one recipe and not the whole cookbook. Same for how-to books. Want to fix the plumbing on the sink but not buy the $25 how to book then just buy the chapter you need. Should do well for them.

No need to wait, there's already a ton of books in. http://print.google.com

its stupid. But its amazon so its worldwide. So they get all the idiots worldwide to buy a fucking chapter. And then its a good idea: when its worldwide, everythings a good idea cuz everything brings in the money.

Yeah, the idea is good for cookbooks or anything that does not require reading in a sequential order like...uhh..real books! :upsidedow

Ever read a photoshop book? Most of them I know all but a few techniques, so in this case it would be great. I could just buy that chapter. Save me a shitload of $

Chio 11-05-2005 10:16 PM

PS I love that gif.

Photochoppers find every tutorial they need for free (like me). Its a dumb idea. But like i said, it has a huge audience so no doubt they will profit from it. But still its fucking stupid.

From Amazon's point of view, its an excellent strategy to squeeze more pennies out of each individual book. as for google i wasnt informed but even if the books are old, knowledge is no trend.

BlingDaddy 11-06-2005 12:19 AM

Google is the largest TGP on the planet and now Amazon is trying to keep up with the more intelligent..... :1orglaugh
