Has this happened to you?

Running ICQ 2000b and every once in awhile it just decides to shut down. When I start the program again, it opens up then shuts down. Once I reboot then it is fine for a bit. I was just up for over 12 hours then it decided to shut down again. I have been running this version for a long time and this has never happened. I am not going to upgrade to 2001b so I am looking for other fixes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it keeps doing it.

Any suggestions?

I use 2000b as well and I am having the same problems lately!! I thought somebody has hacked my PC but then checked with 2 programs and it didn't find anything. It happened a few times about a week ago but now it seems fine.

YEP, I had to restart my computer twice.

I have 2001b installed and it is the biggest fucking pig of a program... takes forever to load for cryin out loud... ICQ was so much better before AOL bought it

Dude, how much is tea going for in China?

Kimmykim 03-15-2002 01:43 PM

I've heard that ICQ is trying to force people to upgrade, don't have any idea whether or not it's true...

Kinda like IE 5.5 crahsing a lot after IE 6 came out huh?

Nothing like this would surprize me. When they come out with some fun tools (CoughHACKcough) for 2001b then I will happily upgrade. :)

Throw away that 486...:winkwink:
I'm using 2000b and the most common bad thing that happens is that when someone else disconnects, it keeps him in the online part of the list for a few minutes or so.. All messages sent in the meantime don't get through to the recipient, and that goes vice versa.

Minte 03-15-2002 04:58 PM

Since i added ICQ plus..its worked great..plus no ads to look at..

payrollpete 03-15-2002 05:00 PM

your icq might be corrupt
i mean the logs / or a msg someone sent you

i had the same problem
then i ran the icq database converter, and it has a fix solution, just click that, and it like fixes your database and then it works perfect.

My solution is this:

Start
-> Settings
-> Control Panel
-> Add/Remove Software
-> Remove ICQ

Works like a charm. :-)

I'm stickin with 2000a..
No need to upgrade if what i have serves my purpose well.. and no problems with it..

It seems that everything that's upgraded anymore has some sort of problems.. or creates them.
