Best way to send $$$ overseas?

I need to send money to the Czech Republic on a regular basis, and would rather not pay the $40/wire fee everytime. Is there a better alternative?

Paypal won't send to Czech Republic (those accounts are send only)
Moneybookers says they limit uploads on credit cards to about $60 per 60 days, which makes it useless.
ePassporte would be a pain to set up for my receiver (it was for me, and I'm in the States), and if I'm sending over $800, their loading fees will be more than the wire

Any other suggestions?

How about wire transfer from the bank?

Screaming 11-05-2005 08:08 AM

Fed ex checks overnight?

They are $40/wire. If I order something, I like to pay 1/2 upon ordering and 1/2 upon completion. That means I'm paing $80 per transaction. That's not cool. :winkwink:

Wow that is some high transfer fees as I only pay $15.00 from my bank to transfer anywhere in the world.

Check western union out or even bidpay.com - Walmart has a cheap wire transfer service as well.

Just a thought

I'll check out those options. Western Union is just as high, but I'll look into bidpay and walmart. What bank are you using? If I only have to pay $15/wire, that'd be ok

Western union is about $25 for $1000. Varies by country and amount. But should give you an idea.

Another option I did while setting up a company over seas was to send a cash card. I would deposit money and they could draw it out. Works well if you can keep overdraft protection off the account.

I called Western Union yesterday, and the fee was like $77 for $1000. It was $33 for $300. Not liking those prices. I've heard a lot of people getting them cheaper, but sure don't know how. I've called them a number of times, and It always ends up being around those lines...

The cash card idea sounds good if I want to just send to one company... Might explore that further
