Enough with the Fake PR Sites

Ok, over the last month or two I've seen people selling domains, trading links, and doing everything else with sites that have fake PR. Of course, many people won't know what they are doing or how they are doing it. If you are one of those people, read on, it could save you some money.

PR is determined by the strength (and subsequently PR) of the sites that are linking to you. If a bunch of high PR sites link to you, you will get high PR. Pretty simple. There is no magic trick here to get it outside of building links.

Well with PR sites having value, people obviously found ways to "fake PR". What people do is setup a 301 redirect to a site with high PR. When Google sees this, they treat that site you are redirecting as the site you are redirecting it to. For instance, redirecting joespornshack.com to google.com will have that site equal Google.com in their eyes. In fact, joespornshack.com wont even exist in their eyes since it is being redirected.

That brings us to how to "fake PR". The trick is done through cloaking that site to the search engines so the average surfer won't get the redirect. Google will show the site as a PR10 (because it sees it as Google.com), but in actuality, joespornshack.com doesn't even exist in Google's eyes.

Basically what you are paying for is nothing. The site doesn't exist in Google's eyes and has zero value. A link on that site will mean nothing since it doesn't even exist. Once that redirect is taken off, the PR will drop to zero.

So how do you save yourself from being scammed? Simple. Check the cache of the site. To do this, copy the URL http://www.google.com (or whatever you are looking up) and paste it in a Google search. You will get a page that shows the URL as well as an option to "Show Google's cache". Click this and see exactly what Google is seeing. If you are faking PR, it will not be the same. To see a site that is faking, look at:

http://pr10.darkseoteam.com/

I'm not calling anyone out, but this is a pretty bullshit tactic if you ask me. I see it as scamming someone. I also don't buy the "I don't know, it's up to Google what the PR is" excuse. To do this, you have to have some knowledge of PR, Google, and cloaking.

Hope this helps!

I already know about the 301 trick and the scam about it.
However, when you buy a link, the PR is only one of the many factors.
I think that if somebody buy a REAL PR7 or PR8 link only watching the Page Rank, he's stupid.
I usually watch many factors, one of this is how many outbound links that page has.
