Since when does "3-day shipping" mean 5 days

I ordered a Pentium4 processor, the last piece to a computer I'm building, last week.. According to UPS it left the retailer on November 2nd in the morning and was in an adjacent city (according to UPS) by 8:30 that night.. But it isn't expected to be delivered until the 7th.. I needed it here on the 5th which is why I chose 3 day shipping. Since when does '3 Day Select' take 5 days ?

Did you call and ask before posting on GFY? If so, what was their response? Are they willing to compensate you?

TMM_John 11-04-2005 10:18 AM

When 2 of the days fall on a weekend? 3 Day means 3 business days.

:thumbsup

That's when you select an option for Saturday delivery, if they even do that shit anymore.

I once bought a Dell laptop and paid over $100 for next day shipping.

One week after I canceled the order because they hadn't even started to build my computer.

I understand why you're angry.

Ah, quick thinking -- god damnit, that never even occurred to me.

dynastoned 11-04-2005 10:21 AM

didn't you know processing the order takes 2 days THEN its 3 day shipping after that.

High Quality 11-04-2005 10:22 AM

Only idiots choose UPS.

I included that in my time estimate, giving it a week to process... according to UPS it left the city it was shipped from on the 2nd, meaning it should have been here on the 4th or 5th

UPS eats rotting donkey ass. I got the same fucking song and dance 2 months back when I ordered a server. Priority 3 day ship. In error they sent the thing ground. I told them to pull it at the next depot and send the thing, and they wouldn't. I ended up waiting 10 business days for an item that should have taken 3.

I will not longer have something shipped UPS. If it can't be sent another way I wil order elsewhere.

acctman 11-04-2005 10:26 AM

if it's in the city next to you, just drive to the Hub and pick it up. I do that a lot with fedex.

Ouch, hopefully that's not the case here.. But I agree with you: This will be my last time using UPS.

3 days is 3 business days...UPS apparently shuts completely down on weekends....

UPS is the worst worldwide shipping service in existance

their "FAQ" says that 3-day-select guarantees packages by the THIRD business day -- if it went out the morning of the 2nd (the first business day), it should be here by the 4th.

No it should be there by the 7th, which would be the third BUSINESS day.

How do you figure.. the 4th is still a Friday (2nd is first biz day, 3rd is second biz day, 4th is 3rd biz day), which - even for UPS - is a work day.

the first shipping day, the 2nd which is wednesday is not counted in the 3 day ship. Thursday, Friday, Monday is 3 days, it's been this way for about 20 years. UPS didnt fuck up anything.

That's not really 3 day shipping then.

yes it is man. If my delivery man picks up at 6pm that leaves them only 6 hours for the rest of the day to be included in 3 business days?

digga 11-04-2005 12:01 PM

usps or dhl all the way. not much better, but still better.

Murderous 11-04-2005 01:20 PM

I always take the estimated shipping time and double it, then set my sites on that day... this way I am excited when it comes early (which is many times late in all reality) nothing ever shows up on time.

What can brown do for you?
