FEMA" heck of a job" BROWNIE emails released!
Sure is a heckofajob....
November 3, 2005 6:00 p.m. EST Andrea Moore - All Headline News Staff Reporter Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Louisiana Rep. Charlie Melancon, whose district south of New Orleans was devastated by the hurricane, is posting a sampling of more than 1,000 e-mails written by Federal Emergency Management chief Michael Brown on his Website. On August 29, the day of the storm, Brown exchanged e-mails about his attire with Cindy Taylor, FEMA's deputy director of public affairs. She told Brown, "You look fabulous," and Brown replied, "I got it at Nordstroms. Are you proud of me?" According to the congressman, an hour later Brown added: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god." Two days after Katrina hit, one of the only FEMA employees in New Orleans, Marty Bahamonde, wrote to Brown that "the situation is past critical" and listed problems including many people near death and food and water running out at the Superdome. Brown's entire response was, "Thanks for the update. Anything specific I need to do or tweak?" Brown wrote to Taylor the morning of the hurricane, "Can I quit now? Can I come home?" A few days later, Brown wrote to an acquaintance, "I'm trapped now, please rescue me." A few days after Katrina made landfall his press sectetary, Sharon Worthy advised Brown: "Please roll up the sleeves of your shirt, all shirts. Even the President rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow. In this [crisis] and on TV you just need to look more hard-working." Brown resigned on September 12. Sure did a heckofajob.... :1orglaugh |

Uh.. he is still on the Fema payroll.. BTW.
From previous emails http://www.correntewire.com/f_email_...ural_disasters In an Aug. 31 e-mail that [Marty Bahamonde, the only FEMA employee to ride out Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans] sent a co-worker, his frustration with Brown burst through. Bahamonde had just learned, as he huddled in New Orleans? Superdome with evacuees, that Brown?s press secretary was fretting about blocking out time for the director to eat dinner at one of Baton Rouge?s busy restaurants that night. ?OH MY GOD!!!!!!!? Bahamonde messaged the co-worker. ?I just ate an MRE? ? military rations ? ?and crapped in the hallway of the Superdome along with 30,000 other close friends so I understand her concern about busy restaurants.? |
