Getting that ever so precious AOL traffic..
It's now been months since AOL search switched to 100% Inktomi results.
The days of building quality freesites for dmoz and getting the AOL traffic seem to be over for now (unless they switch back) I have a few paid Inktomi listings but have never even got 1 AOL visitor :( I read a post somewhere and someone said that there is one company spamming the index with cloaked submissions and Inktomi themselves are giving these listings preferred status becuase they are making a % of the profit. Either way - I just want to get some good listings. If you are having success with paid inktomi listings coming up in AOL - please drop me a line at [email protected] We can do a deal for the info :) thanks |
why don't you ask them if you could buy a aol keyword,,,
you know the ones they say on TV commercials,,, this is something i would like to know |
AOL is also testing Netscape, on Compuserve.
I'd say they are thinking about booting Microsoft IE... Oh well poor old IE... |
Speaking of AOL, I just saw that commercial where the old woman go's "haha, now anyone can feel like a computer genius"...
The keyword there is 'Feel'. Im afraid AOL is destroying the internet from the inside out. :) |

destroying the internet from the inside out... heck with 30+ million users....guess they can do just about anything they want... |
Aol only lists RASC & ICRA rated sites, also, you need to be registered with the filtering companies..
|
RASC?
I see nothing but Inktomi spam listed in AOL. I know a lot of people use cloaking so you don't really know what the page they submitted to Inktomi looks like. I guess the only people that are having success with this are keeping it to themselves :p |

well my paid postiontech urls come up in AOL searches when I search by the domain name - so I am indexed - I am just not getting shown on any results pages except for my domain.
Unless you are saying that AOL only lists in the "high" spots sites that are registered and rated? All the top spots I see don't have any RASC in the HTML and their page structure is mickey mouse looking so I think they are cloaked. Can you explain this please? |
Spacedog, are you getting hits on specific keyword searches at AOL or is it from the catagories ?
|
specific keyword searches & quite many in the top 5 spots, & many more in #1 or #2 spots
