Do you guys really want to know what's wrong with this biz?
 

I cut and pasted this from another board:
I opened my site last week. I haven't even had 1 visitor. All my emails I send out come back, delivery failure. I'm certainly not a computer genius, but I can follow directions.
I need alot of advice and help.
Like:
What can I do to increase traffic?
How do I send effective email?
How do I get email addresses so I can send mail?
I'd appreciate any help. Just help me get rolling.

I mean holy fucking shit...this is our competition...people who couldn't make it selling on eBay.

I know everyone's a newbie but this takes the fucking cake...our competition are people who don't know basic html...and this fucker can't even send an email.

They are in effect along with the RS cheaters flooding the system with such bad galleries it's taking weeks to get listed and sites like absolut have shut down their form and even on Worldsex Pierre has now gone to the once every 3 days rule.

Sorry but that's what it boils down to.
It's not just the scrubbing...it's not just the glut of free porn...it's a 45 year old housewife looking for the next get rich quick scheme.

Jeezus...I know, I have had my site up for a week now...I have had 5 people to my site...SHIT! I thought I would be strong competition for Lensman...Have a couple of new cars...I guess, I will have to pass out flyers at church on sunday or something...:Graucho

Saturation has been happening since this biz started and isn't going to stop.

Every month the cake gets sliced into a few more pieces.

It means we need to be smarter, work harder, and think bigger.

This biz changes often and occasionaly there are major shifts - perhaps the next shift will make it harder for new people to get into the game in a serious way.

No shit sherlock...but you miss the point.

Being a newbie as a webmaster is fine...if you have basic html skills have thrown together a few pages etc you can learn and grow.

But being a newbie who doesn't have the most basic skills and deciding one day that you are going to be an adult webmaster is pure fucking ridiculous....it is what is clogging up the submissions qeues.

Go read the ARS boards where I located this post and you will see people debating on whether or not they should learn html.

This is a major problem in this biz. It is people thinking that this is just another eBay type gig where they can sit at home and for a couple of hours a day knock out a gallery or two and become rich...when anyone in their right mind knows this is hard work.

Don't get me wrong I love it...it's one of the funnest "jobs" I've held in a long time...nothing I love more than rolling off my bed into my desk chair and checking my stats.

But this newbie shit is only going to get worse before it gets better.

And for those who claim that the "cream" will rise to the top and this means there's no real competition out there...try telling that to the reviewer who has to wade through hundreds possibly thousands of bullshit submissions daily...sure they'll find the best one in the bunch...but hell if you are number 999 out of 1,000 your chances of getting listed that night are slim to none.

Hey I read this in the ARS board and it gets disturbing everytime I read it. Not the posting, but the message itself. I consider myself a newbie in certain aspects (I'm great at designing) but not all. However when it comes to email, checking your stats, or even how to build a gallery that's just ridculous.

even with the amount of gallery submissions tgp's recieve these days is not hard to get 200,000+ visits per day submitting average galleries to the tgps

I had a friend who just got into the biz do exactly that - build average galleries and he is doing over 200k/day now.

With the amount of information on the webmaster resource sites and with webmaster referral % incentives - it is no surprise that everyone and their mother (literally) wants to get into this biz... plus the I do 12 signups/day type posts, and the pics of our cars etc.

It can't be reversed.

IMO - eventually things will "shake" themselves out. I see a big shift coming in the world of tgping :)

I've been around too long. I think of the shakeout as behind me and not ahead of me.

And yes, we were all Newbies, and yes I see your point eroswebmaster, but Fuck, what if that post was made in the same spirit as some of Boneprones characters? If that were the case, they would be laughing their asses off right now. Just ignore them, they will go away. There are just some things that are nneded to be understood before anyone can make a living at this, and well, that person was either serious, and has already given up, or laughing. one of the two.

No it's not a bad thing but when it becomes sheer numbers your submission can and will get lost .

It's fucking TGP for christs sake.. no wonder your not making fucking money.. who the fuck surfs TGP's.. People looking for FREE porn.. they're not going to click on your sponsors.. they will hit the back button right back to world sex, or the hun, or jjjs, etc...

try selling somethign else than pics on your TGPs or galleries, and would will see that a TGP sometimes means some good cash...

You know, there is not everything on a TGP...there is almost no good videos, stories, live shows etc....

A lot of visitors are here to collect stuff...not get a lot of free porn... Visitors will sure surf free sites to get their free goodies, but real porn lovers will buy membership on paysites that advertise a certain model/pornstar...stuff like that...

Use your brain instead of jacking off...

basically, nothing. bottomline, it's a business, like any other. i treat it like a complex chess game. understand the rules, and learn how to beat everyone else at the game.

there is *plenty* of money that has been, is, and will continue to be made in online porn. i've been working in the industry for over 5 years - i (and many others) have done very well. many others have not. constantly changing climate/rules bringing you down? one word: adapt.

How can you adapt when the rules change from day to day.. what was perfectly fine yesterday is no longer any good today..

today I can create a gallery for sponsor a who has no consoles & submit to the hun & get approval, but 3 days from now, that sponsor will add 368 consoles, so when I submit again, it is now on the blacklist..

Only the strong survive. Stop worrying about the fucking rules. Adapt or be eaten.
