you should start a cam site to support your outsourcing.

xlogger 11-03-2005 04:49 AM

How much do they charge?

i don't actually outsource people overseas, i just pay different people for different things

munki - extremely well priced and does my nats integration and other shit like that, a jack of all trades - highly recommend

decrypted - does my php and members area code etc - also priced great

and woj i'm about to try soon and have heard only great things about his coding too :)

Wiggles 11-03-2005 04:55 AM

i can do the basics of everything, but thats all you really need.

Violetta 11-03-2005 04:58 AM

I got a brother that is a php doctor, and I have a kick ass html editor -> Dreamweaver 8! So I get things done! :)

CuriousToyBoy 11-03-2005 04:59 AM

I made my first million using Frontpage (still can't write html) and I will NEVER change from Frontpage now on principle... not that I do much of that anyway.

I couldn't code even Basic to save my life (To me, PHP is a bad halucinogenic from the 60's)

I can BARELY crop an image in Photoshop.

I struggle with VB tags on boards.

BUT I KNOW BUSINESS and I KNOW the theory.

And I have a great team.

And here I am.

I love this business.

;-)

It's not necessary really, I don't know html or photoshop but still make a very good living doing this full-time with just galleries.

Basically all u need to know is how to use a wysiwyg editor, know how to get traffic and most important know how to convert traffic.

lots of people make great graphics and can code but can't sell worth shit.

it's all about knowing how to sell and talk to the surfer. Whenever you need graphics just higher a designer.

Who cares if the html code is not perfect, as long as u get traffic and get lots of sign ups that's all that counts.

I'd get a lot more done if I didn't know anything.. unfortunately, I do pretty much everything myself. :(

DamageX 11-03-2005 05:40 AM

Nah, you're not. Lots of incompetent peeps around. :)

in my opinon, its better to outsource some things even if you know how to do them

iwantchixx 11-03-2005 05:45 AM

I came inot this business 3 years ago not knowing HTML, Design, Photoshop.. ads, ANYTHING.

All I could do was load an Arlse gallery into frontpage, add a couple text links like "more of me here" and upload.

That was the extent of my knowledge.

Now I can code html, css, do photoshop pretty good, build galleries from scratch, do SEO friendly text links that pull clicks, paragraphs etc etc etc etc.

I'm still learning, always will be learning. The day you cease to learn anything new is the day you're skills start getting stale.

iwantchixx 11-03-2005 05:47 AM

Sometimes it's best to outsource everything if you're maina spect is 'business' and content work but there will be a day when someone your ely on won't be around anymore and you'll be stuck.

Learn what you can. For small jobs, do it yourself a few times.

A CEO of a webmaster program should at least know how to code HTML and work photoshop enough to make thumbs.

The more knowledge you have about the job, the better a leader you can become. :thumbsup

Same boat I am in. Jack of all trades, master of none...except maybe jerking off. That's a job requirement.

So true.

Logic says that if you can pay someone to do a job and have it done to the same standard as you could have done it but at half the cost or less (someone else doing the task then allows you to focus on your real bread & butter). :)

hydro 11-04-2005 11:32 AM

these days you really don't need skills. All you need is content, good traffic, and a starving college kid to do all your html and php work.

Dalai lama 11-04-2005 11:46 AM

I can do them all.

jrap 11-04-2005 11:49 AM

I have skillls... like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.

BlackCrayon 11-04-2005 11:51 AM

so what did you do? buy a bunch of stuff and find a girl?

Maxy 11-04-2005 11:53 AM

When I did galleries I outsourced the design work and it worked out. I got up to $70 a day off an hour of work a day in 2003.

Young 11-04-2005 11:54 AM

bdld 11-04-2005 12:59 PM

all that's really needed is a bit of the basics in html and design. the harder part is getting the traffic.

Not really. All you need is patience and perseverence.
