For each Card Account you may assign:
Two Authorized Agents: An Authorized Agent has permission from the Cardmember to verify and review Card Account activity and balances.
Two Authorized Account Managers: An Authorized Account Manager has permission to act on behalf of the Cardmember. Permissions for this Authorized User include all the permissions of the Authorized Agent, plus the ability to authorize most financial transactions.

They've had authorized users since at least 1982. That was when I stupidly added my now ex-husband as an authorized user on my account ;)

Definitely been around for as long as I can remember - back in the 1970s all my friends were giving their kids gold cards to take off to school with them - as auth users on their account

Thats adding cards under your account, which is not the same thing as this Auth agents they are offering as an option now. These Auth agents dont get a card, just access to the accounting details of your cards.

They've always had that... it allows you to delegate authority to book travel services or potentially complete account management.

They had that for a long time now, to add spouses, etc.
