You might be a Floridian if...

* You have more than 20 C and D batteries in your kitchen drawer.
* You flinch when you are introduced to a person named Andrew, Frances, Ivan,Katrina, Rita or Wilma.
* You find yourself dropping words like "Millibar" and "Convection" into everyday conversation.
* Your pantry contains more than 10 cans of Spaghetti Os.
* Making coffee on your propane grill or over a sterno can does not seem like an odd thing to do.
* You are thinking of repainting your house to match the plywood covering your windows.
* When describing your house to a prospective buyer, you say it has three bedrooms, two baths and one safe place.
* You are on a first-name basis with the cashier at Home Depot.
* The road leading to your house has been declared a No-Wake Zone.
* You decide that your patio furniture looks better on the bottom of the pool.
* You have the number for FEMA on your speed dialer.
* You own more than three large coolers.
* You resist donating to hurricane relief and start your own fund.
* Three months ago you couldn't hang a shower curtain; today you can assemble a portable generator by candlelight.
* You catch a 5-pound catfish- In your driveway. (We found a fish head in ours)
* You can recite from memory whole portions of your homeowner's insurance policy.
* You have had tuna fish more than 5 days in a row.
* You can rattle off the names of three or more meteorologists who work at The Weather Channel.
* Someone comes to your door to tell you they found your roof.
* Relocating to Canada does not seem like such a crazy idea.

I'd say 1 in 15 cars is damaged down here, easy. Mine included :disgust

1 friend broke his neck - opened his door an a tree fell in. Neighbors sliding glass doors blew in and cut up her face. One family got hurt when they tried to check the gas level on their generator by candlelight.

90% of traffic signals are GONE - Worst ever storm in my 30 years down here.

Definitely a bad deal for us here in Broward County. The fucking traffic light situation is killing me. My usual 20 min. commute to my office now takes an hour.

At least I have power, cable, and Internet at home.

Wow, I hope you and everyone else in Florida are alright. At least you've still got your health and family, almost everything else can be replaced.

Funny stuff there lol.

Cyndalie 11-02-2005 01:52 PM

Thanks WG, I hear ya MacDaddy - working at home is safer at this point. Hell my 1 mile commute takes 20 minutes. Better off walking. All in all we were pretty well prepared, but man the width of damage goes from Palm beach to the Keys. Like andrew on a larger scale and scarry as hell!!!!!

I agree with most of those mentioned. I can't stop laughing

You own more than three large coolers. Hahahahahaha!

At least you're still alive ... good luck with the re-building and fixing things up ... hopefully you won't have problems with your insurance compagny
