To board whore or not to board whore
That is the question.
Boards use to be, in my opinion, a very useful part of any marketing strategy. Now I see a shift in boards, over the past couple years new ones have popped up, old ones have tried to reinvent themselves and almost all of them are seeing shifts in both number of posts and quality of posts. Times of plenty and times of want. Do you think this has changed or is changing? What causes boards to slow down then pick up? Do contests really increase the boards activity long term? Have you increased or decreased the number of boards you post on? What part of your board strategy has changed? |
I think board whoring is level 1 webmastering. You can even do it from your cellphone. No skills required, but sometimes can earn you some cash.

So much has changed, but so much stays the same.
Boards to me are just outlets where I can feel free to express myself to like minded people. |
Respect comes from being respectable.

Very true Tonda - years back we were pretty much all on 1 board, mabey 2 and things were different...
Seems like alot more playing now, I dunno........... There still is lots of biz to discuss though, just depends where. |
The change is that this GFY is open to absolutely ANYONE (and this applies to all forums), and the community has been watered down by sufers, leechers, spammers, idiots, and their dogs. This has caused a real degredation of the kind of business you can do on the board now.

I miss the days of the old YNOT chat room. I would spend hours chatting with what people now would consider veterans. The knowledge one could gain from an hour of chat with the likes of PK, RB or even your everyday webmaster was absolutely amazing. |

In fact these days I only seem to come in here for a break while I'm downing a coffee. |
