I want to turn them in to .html files. I read somewhere that it can be done with .htaccess, not sure.

are you specifically trying to do this in wordpress? If so click options, then permalinks then format the structure to your own liking, click save and it will give you the code to put in htacess :321GFY

Do a search for htaccess - someone posted it yesterday.
