PC Music Software

I got out of DJing for good a few months back. I've been out of music for a while and I haven't kept up with much in the last few years. I need some good production software, PC based that's capable of at least 48 tracks.

Any suggestions?

Ableton Live allows you to mix as many samples as you want live. You could cut all you loops in reason or fruity loops then import them into live and mix them live. Works well for live performances.

If you want straight audio recording I'd go with Nuendo.

I have the E-MU 1820M -- it has turntable input in the included soundcards. I think it's only capable of 32 tracks with the included software though.

thanks for the great suggestions. If any/all have trials I'll start there to get a feel of them. I'm feeling inspired and have a few great tunes and bass lines that are unique plus a few sounds that haven't been played out yet.
