Punk trick or treaters

I can't see how much could have changed since I was a kid.

It used to be customary to say "trick or treat?" when someone opened the door that you knocked on. It used to be customary to wear a costume too. I also remember being taught to say thank you when someone gives you something or does something for you.

Out of probably 30 kids or so.

2 said trick or treat
8 didn't have costumes
4 said thank you

Parents should be ashamed.

my daughter had a costume (eagles cheerleader, o so fucking cute)

said trick or treat a billion times, (besides the couple times she said "give me candy!" she is 2 so its understandable, and as funny as it gets)

and said thank you all by her self @ every door.

i was wondering why people kept loading her down with fist fulls of candy. i thought it was becouse they are all eagles fans, but it would seem that being polite, and ofcourse living up to the holiday helped.

shes 2 and got a bag of candy bigger then herself.

Hahaha, I didn't get any trick or treaters this year, even though I bought lots of candy. But I'll tell you this, if I got kids who either didn't say trick or treat, or weren't wearing costumes, they wouldn't have gotten any candy, and if they were at least 10 and didn't say thank you, they'd get plastered with silly string. :)

We had some pretty good kids, a few of them didn't have costumes though.

I do have to say that none of the kids seemed that enthused or happy. I remember being so excited for halloween when I was a kid.

I had a few bratty ones, and a few drunk/high 15 year olds LOL

I contemplated not giving out candy to try and prove a point, but it's just not worth it having some kid egg my Mercedes because he's pissed that he didn't get junk food from me.

Maybe this is just a coastal Florida thing.

Oh, that's a great idea! I'll be stocking up on a few cans of silly string next halloween for sure! ;)

Has anyone ever played a trick instead of giving them a treat?

Every year I say 'Trick' when they come to my door, and give out little toothbrushes and toothpastes.

the guy next door really did up his yard with gravestones and halloween lights.

he had scary music and a fog machine blowing out across the street...i wish i had done more now.

I gave out mini chocolate bars though so they were just as happy to come to my place..lol

A great friend and former neighbor in NC goes all out every year. His brother and wife and the rest of the neighbors get into it too. They cover their entire garage in black plastic, use fog, dry ice, lights and sound and scare the crap out of kids.

I just can't get that into it.

Yeah, I have a friend whose family would always spend a week or so building a crazy haunted house. I went over and helped out a few times, but I just can't motivate myself to do anything that crazy myself.

PenisFace 11-01-2005 09:24 AM

I gave candy to everyone. A group of 10 guys not much younger than me knocked and said trick or treat, three of them were dressed as power rangers :1orglaugh

I really couldn't care less who comes to the door for candy, so long as they're not pushy, or ask for more than I give em (unless they're 2 or something, then they can have the entire bag)

One time, I drop kicked a three year old in the face because I didn't like his costume.

Cyndalie 11-01-2005 09:27 AM

Halloween was a bust in SoFla this year. Poor kids. After a week without power, one of the first things to go after a hurricane is your candy supply!

EroticySteve 11-01-2005 09:29 AM

For most of the kids with no manners or sense of the traditions of Halloween I blame the parents.

I don't know where you are living, but every kid out here was very polite, desguised and the parents were walking on the street ...

This really cool guy used to give tricks... There'd always be the one kid in the group that would complain but he was a violinist and he didn't give a shit what we thought he was just tryign to be different I guess.

He'd do magic tricks and good ones too ...

I live in Florida, not far from Tampa. Not a bad neighborhood, but the kids are definitely a bit unruly.
