be there 2 hours before....it's just a waste of time being there 4 hours before your flight...only newbies come 4 hours before the flight....

Lol, it's not my first flight. It's because I fly from The Netherlands to the USA. Normally it was 2 hours before. Now sinde 2 weeks, the USA has new "security" checks.

It's at least 2 hours prior from Australia to the USA....

But I go when I please and spend the time in the Ambassadors Lounge.. free food, free drink and my laptop on my lap.

they'll let you strip down to your naked butt, double-check all body-orifices, plug in an atomic anal probe, xray you, magnet-resonance-image you, and after filling out a 89-page-questionnaire, you're finally allowed to board. you'll have to hurry, 4 hours pass like nothing.

Lol like it matters how long the flight is. I goto Seattle, that is 10.5 hours. When i fly to NY, it's like 5-6 hours, and also 4 hours in advance.

I hope they will stop these extra checks soon, or will do it quicker.

I was in Atlanta travelling via Milan from Denmark last weekend and it was 2 hours before on Alitalia/Delta.

But the security checks are nuts, first time I had to remove my shoes and go thru a security check to enter a country. :Oh crap

They probably have a full cavity search ready for you when you reach the airport :winkwink:

Arriving there is a nightmare. I think we went thru 2 security checks, customs and immigration in Atlanta to get into the country and ofcause there were a long line at every place :(

I hope you have a safe flight. And it sucks that you have to be there so early.

I did that already. I booked a nice seat ith extra leg space. HOWEVER, we still have to get checked etc. It should be over when we get new passports etc. But that will take some time.

You are from the US(NYC?) I'm GOING to the USA. It's the only country that takes so long...

Heading back to the US has never been much of a problem either. I guess its because i'm American. Franck has similar stories of trying to get to the US I think.

You have to do that when entering almost every country. I had to do that flying in to Brussels, Prague, etc.

The new security is BS but when you have people hijacking planes with box cutters and trying to blow up the plane with their shoe you can see why they have extra screening... Personally I would rather get through security 2 hours quicker and take my chances! ;)

It's about 15 hours from LAX, depending on AC, weather and what city you are departing from/arriving to.

Don't come. America is over rated and it is not worth the airport hassle.
