How much time do you spend updating your blogs?

So blogs seem to still be the newest big thing but how much time do you actually put into updating each blog daily? Are there any auto processes available now and how much time is spent to configure say a months worth of auto content?

twan 10-30-2005 02:45 PM

I fill my queue with 7 log entries at saturdays, this way i will have 1 new log entry every day. Wordpress has this function and also Thumblogger.

mkx 10-30-2005 03:09 PM

Yah I use wordpress for holdemblog.com but I think there is a lot more work to update blogs than tgp's, is it all worth it? I must spend no more than 30 seconds to update about 30 tgp's.

nakki 10-30-2005 03:20 PM

Scroll down, under Advanced there's "Edit time". Just put the date and time you want there (plus check "Edit timestamp")

mkx 10-30-2005 03:47 PM

do you update every day?

Juilan 10-30-2005 04:08 PM

every other day
sometimes - post stamp a weeks worth of wordpress posts in one day.

Hardlinks 10-30-2005 04:09 PM

I spend pretty much every waking hour, updating mine.

mkx 10-30-2005 04:16 PM

thats a lot of work

Rochard 10-30-2005 05:06 PM

I write out blog entries in advance whenever I have time or whenever I have something somewhat interesting to write. I sort of promised myself I wanted my blog to be full of pictures...... Every time I come across an interesting picture that I can point to someone's site to make money I slap it up there.

You should be aware though that your 'Update Services' won't be pinged on future dated posts unless you grab a plug-in.

SGS 10-31-2005 06:48 PM

2 hours a day.

Yeah sorry, I went to look for the link last night and got side tracked.

I used version 1.2 of this one with my old host. I don't have it set-up on my new host yet.

So is this needed in order for the wordpress thing to work?

hova 11-01-2005 07:57 AM

about 20 minutes... with photoshop etc....

cykoe6 11-01-2005 08:07 AM

I usually spend about 2-3 hours per post. It is a pain but it pays off with SE traffic and sales though :winkwink:

I spend around 20mins a day updating 3 blogs. But I usually just make a bunch of posts and use the Future posting thingy in wordpress.
Now I just wish wordpress would allow to update multiple blogs from a single admin interface like b2evo or blogger does.

The way I understand it is this. When you hit publish with a post dated entry either the ping happens but there is nothing for the services to see OR the ping just doesn't happen. You need the plug-in to keep note of the posts that have been pinged and the ones that haven't. The link I posted adds a couple of fields to your post table and relies on cron to do the checking and eventually carry out the ping at the right time, when the actual post becomes live or just after it.

Check out the Wordpress support forum. They know more about it than I do:)
