Videochat vs Webcams?
 

Are you guys/gals marketing 'webcams' as different and separate features from 'videochat' or have the two become synonymous with one another?

Well.. ya need a webcam for videochat, so they are pretty much one in the same... probably market it both ways...

Not necessarily..

Webcams used to be a one-way affair - the member views a webcam broadcast and may enter text to participate in the experience.

Now, members with webcams can do two way interactions with the services (more than just text chat).

So my question is, does 'Videochat' refer only to two-way webcam chats or has the 'Webcams' product (including one-way only cam with text chat) been renamed to 'Videochat'?

Does surfers have different expectations with the two terms?

we have always advertised it interchangeably..

i.e. webcams.com for the hottest live video chat

"video chat" doesn't necessarily refer to a 2-way video communication (i.e. if one is watching and typing and the other is being watched and typing) = same thing.

I typically do go after both terms but I've found that "cams" and "webcams" seem to the more popular search term, at least in the adult arena.
