Selling domain. Need serious advice, please

I have one person interested on buying one domain I own.

I can't be too much specific about the domain name right now, but here are some details:
- Online since 2000.
- PR 5 in Google, 10100 pages spidered (3410 in Yahoo). Spidered pages include listings, archive and galleries.
- Listed in DMOZ
- 2.5K uniques a day with Google as a top referer, Yahoo also good traffic.
- It is a kind of a TGP with links to sponsor hosted galleries and galleries hosted on site.
- Several subscribable RSS Feeds for "what's new" propagation.
- I make about $2k/month with this domain.
- Two word domain targeted to a top selling niche.
- The two words combined sound good (easy to remember).
- Sentimental value: my first domain.

Now the big question: The guy wants a price. How much?

Thanks in advance for your help :thumbsup

Question is if he's only interested in the domain, or the site itself.

I would suggest around 6-12 months revenue, depending on how stable the traffic is.
Traffic from SE might change fast, as you probaly know.

You didn't mention how many backlinks the domain had?

I think he is only interested in the domain name.
Yahoo reports 2950 backlinks but most of them are internal.

If you're seriously considering selling, I'd overcome the secrecy and post it. A good answer can't be given with the type of info you provide, not even within a factor of ten. People can give estimates like 6 months revenue or 6 years revenue, but without knowing how effectively you're monetizing the traffic, or how stable that traffic is likely to be without continued maintenance, 6 months could be too high or 6 years could be too short!

The only way to get a really good estimate on price is to solicit offers from real buyers, and the best way to maximize those offers is to expose it to a lot of interested buyers. GFY is one avenue for exposure.

Hey You . . . I Know You! 10-29-2005 09:40 AM

- Online since 2000.
= ZERO DOLLARS

- PR 5 in Google, 10100 pages spidered (3410 in Yahoo). Spidered pages include listings, archive and galleries.
= THIS COULD CHANGE TOMORROW

- Listed in DMOZ
= ???

- 2.5K uniques a day with Google as a top referer, Yahoo also good traffic.
= NICE (TEMPORARY) TRAFFIC

- It is a kind of a TGP with links to sponsor hosted galleries and galleries hosted on site.
= ZERO DOLLARS

- Several subscribable RSS Feeds for "what's new" propagation.
= ???

- I make about $2k/month with this domain.
= NICE, I WOULDN'T SELL. HONESTLY, THIS COULD BE STEADY INCOME FOR YEARS TO COME. I GUESS THE INCOME COULD ALSO END TOMORROW. IT DEPENDS ON HOW "ESTABLISHED" THE INCOME STREAM ACTUALLY IS. IF YOU HAVE BEEN EARNING 2K/MONTH FOR A YEAR (OR MORE) THE BUYER BETTER BE READY TO PAY!

- Two word domain targeted to a top selling niche.
= HOW MANY "TYPE-INS"

- The two words combined sound good (easy to remember).
= COULD BE VALUABLE TO THE RIGHT PERSON/COMPANY

- Sentimental value: my first domain.
= ZERO DOLLARS

Now the big question: The guy wants a price. How much?

CONSIDER HOW MUCH YOU EARN AND HOW STABLE THE INCOME IS. THEN ASK YOURSELF, WOULD YOU BE BETTER OFF SELLING AND FOR HOW MUCH?

THE PRICE SHOULD BE WHATEVER YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH. SOME PEOPLE WILL PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR A NON INCOME PROVIDING DOMAIN. OTHERS WANT TRAFFIC. SOME BUY NAMES BASED ON THE INCOME THEY ARE CURRENTLY/CAPABLE OF EARNING.

IF YOU WANT TO SELL, GIVE YOUR DREAM PRICE. THEN, COMPROMISE (IF YOU NEED TO) TO YOUR MINIMUM. BECAUSE YOU ARE EARNING WITH THIS DOMAIN, IT MAKES IT MUCH EASIER TO DETERMINE A "SALE PRICE" AND TO TURN DOWN OFFERS. GOOD LUCK!

SORRY FOR THE CAPS. THEY ARE TO DISTINGUISH.
