It could be anything, I had the same problem with my cat for a little while. I had to ask my vet

Either the litter box was too dirty, or you changed litter brands on him, or you moved a blanket or something that has previously always been in the same place. Cats are wierd and can be very habitual.

My cat never seemed finiky or anything and was pretty mellow and welcomed change, but man if his litter is changed (brands) or it's not cleaned enough he'll piss on my clothes. And by cleaned enough I mean I have to scoop it every day at the same time or he gets pissed.

Stupid Cat.

G-Rotica 10-28-2005 11:48 AM

Did he piss or did he spray? He may just have been marking his territory. My cat did that once, then he got nutted.

now all of that makes sense:

1) i just changed his litter brand last week
2) i moved his blanket (that he sleeps on) last night

G-Rotica: hes not fixed yet. (hes 8 months old) i think i may make an appt. today just in case it wasnt pee but im PRETTY sure it was pee lol

Lycanthrope 10-28-2005 11:55 AM

If you have had friends that have animals over that have sat in it, the felonious feline is probably just marking its territory. I hate to say it, but it probably won't stop there.

That's probably your answer, but get him fixed FAST! Also, it could be medical problems, but with all the changes you did it's probably just that.

LiveDose 10-28-2005 12:06 PM

Maybe reminded him of the liter box...?

Damian_Maxcash 10-28-2005 12:07 PM

Mine did the same thing when I did anything that anoyed him - and the best way to piss off a cat is change something.

He also had a thing for leather - pissing on it that is. Anything leather was pissed on almost before it hit the floor.

So..

You keep the bean bag chair that you game in 5 feet from where the cat shits?

Ewww... :)

BradM 10-28-2005 12:14 PM

My OLD roommates cat pissed on my $1,500 mattress. It doesn't walk well from what I hear now.

I had a cat that was nuetered and didnt spray, until he got hit by a car and his head smashed.. but after the accident ( I could not believe he lived) he started spraying on me and other areas around the house... he also had to sleep on my chest (no room there so he was on my neck all night) and I had to sleep with one eye open..till he became strictly outside...I can't stand cat piss or spray.. the smell drives me insane.

I am happy with my snake and my spider now.

I see he likes to track his litter outta the box. I had to get this litter box, because my cat wouldn't sqaut when she'd pee, so it's just go right out the front door, but anyway.... it's a top entry litter box, and makes it so NO litter gets out. Best litter box ever. Check it out:
