The lottery Gods are toying with you! Do you buy more tickets next time because you think you are close to winning or do just buy 1 ticket as that is all it takes to win? I used to buy 1 ticket for every million in winnings but with these $100 million plus lotto prizes I gave that up. $5 tops is all I will spend.

At a $54 million Cdn payout, you could have spent the $27.7 million and just bought every possible number sequence available.

It would have been a sure win.

Only problem with that plan is, since one other person won you would have to split the pot, meaning that would leave you with $27.15 million. If you financed your ticket purchase that would leave you about $500k in the hole.

I never looked at it like that. When you're talking about a $300 million dollar jackpot, an expense of $27.7 million is a sure fire way to pull it off, unless as you said, every other wealthy wiseguy dumps the same amount of money in for the sure win.
