Interesting new information - Tamiflu - the drug that all the news stations keep showing as the "miracle drug" for fighting this new Bird Flu - seems that theres lots of fighting about breaking the patent by Roche
The company that holds the patent - Gilead Sciences, Inc will fight it tooth and nail - especially since they have a friend in Washington - their former Chairman and still a board member that owns a huge amount of stock in the company - the Secretary of Defense - D Rumsfield - he was made chairman in 1997 and left to become the head of the defense dept - amazingly the US placed an order for 20 million doses at $100 per. (hmm thats 2 bill)
The funny part is that the drug doesnt even work in preventing the flu - just shortens the time you have it.

Roche in Canada has decided to limit the distribution of TamiFlu to only those who need it.. they are monitoring their own supply to make sure that places like senior's homes and hospitals get it first.. they also blasted the Canadian government for not being the ones to monitor supplies, in fact forcing Roche to actively limit it's own supply out.

Tamiflu only works within the first few days of the flu... after that you're fucked...

Well, if it shortens the time you have it then it must work in a way..They're fighting for this because of the hysteria abou bird flu.. I guess it's the best that we have so far.
