You need a better hosting company. Alot of stuff can be stopped before it even starts.

server hacked or just suffering from some ddos?

Well, im not going to name names .. but this hosting company has been very good to us in the past. And there may have been some .. uhm .. firewall misconfiguration on my part.

Strangely though, on our similar boxes with a different host, we have no "internal" firewall software on the servers but have never had a problem like this. Maybe that's what you mean by "stopped before it even starts".

Hacked. Loaded with backdoors, trojans, etc. Pretty much completely taken over.

I appreciate the offer. In the long run we may need to hire a professional server administrator to just keep things running smoothly.

Right now tech support is cleaning up the mess, so we're ok for the moment... but I'll keep your contact info for future reference :)
