Sperbonzo is back after Wilma.... sort of. That was a crazy storm....and still is!

Hey there folks. I"m sure that there have been lots of thread about this, but I'm only just getting online now. We still don't have power, we are cooking with propane camping stoves, keeping food in coolers and using flashlights to get around. There is very little cell phone coverage either.

The problem now is getting more ice, and finding gas for the cars.

I just found a small area about 5 miles away that has power, and found a network open. so I'm using this from my car for a sec.

Hi there folks. Just checking in to say Hi to those that care... :thumbsup

Geesh, glad to here everything is okay (kind of, could be worse). Welcome back

Phoenix 10-26-2005 08:53 AM

good to know you are safe and sound

sperbonzo 10-26-2005 08:56 AM

Thanks..... The storm was crazy. Tree fell on a power line right outside our window, it exploded and the tree caught on fire. Windows burst from the wind. A couple of cars were pushed into the intercoastal from the wind. Boats were destroyed against the dock. thank goodness it only lasted about 7 hours.

Back for a sec.... Good to hear from you Brett. Try and give me a call toward the end of the week or the beginning of next. Hopefully things will be a bit better by then.

Keep your hands on the wheel, chief.

The irony of flying off the road in FL just to say hello to your pornographer buddies makes too good a headline -- :winkwink:

Just popping in again. It is amazing how dark this city is. Are there any other webmasters from Miami/Fort Lauderdale that can get online at all?

Sneezy 10-26-2005 07:21 PM

I did manage to get gas this morning. I got up in the dark at 5:30 am, found a station that had cops and cars around it, a sure sign of gasoline supply.

I managed to whip my car around and I was only 30th in line when the place opened at 7am with two pumps. By 8:30am I had gas for my car and a 6 gallon can for my sister. By that point the line behind me was about a 1 1/2 long

There are a lot more stations open today. Average wait time for gas for the people that don't get up a 5:30 am.... 8 hours. I was happy as hell to only wait for 2 hours!

Also managed to get to a hardware store just as it opened and scored a bunch of butane to cook with.

Only bad news today was that a friend of mine was t-boned by some idiot that did not stop at an intersection. (When the traffic lights are out, as most of them are, you are supposed to treat them as a four-way stop.... but there are a lot of people that are sailing right though.
Anyway, he, and his wife, and his 11 month old daughter are in the hospital :-(

Thank god they caught the asshole that ran the intersection.

ok.... done what I need to do. Time to drive home and read by flashlight for a while...

:-P
