Jodie Foster the Original Princess Leia of Star Wars?

All these years I thought I knew most of the Star Wars trivia but didn't know Lucas had originally chosen Jodie Foster as the original Princess Leia. Makes sense as I thought Mark Hamil was Jodie's brother Buddy when I first saw the movie. What a weird twist of fate. Could you have pictured that movie series with Foster instead of Fisher?

I have heard about this a long time ago. another myth was that Carrie Fisher was suppose to play Carrie and Sissy Spacek was suppose to play Princess Leia. They end up switching roles because Fisher doesn't want to do some sexy scenes in Carrie. Well I have not confirmed this one.

Now that takes a leap of faith.

I can see her doing a better job than Carrie Fisher.... she was only like 19 at the time anyway.

Was she really? I think she'll also play the part well.

Jodie was born in '62 so she would have been around 13 or 14 when they shot the movie. If they dolled her up a bit she might have looked old enough to play twin sister to Mark Hamill. They do favor one another though. At first I thought Hamill was Jodie's older brother 'Buddy' Foster who used to star on Mayberry RFD.

Doing voiceover work mostly.

He's the voice of the Joker in the Batman cartoons and did the voice for the Hobgoblin as well in the SM snimated series.
