What will happen to your business/sites if you die?
 

I was thinking about this today. Not something that people want to think about, but it really is something that should be considered. If I died tomorrow and my sites were never updated again they would still pull in a nice rake of cash. It would be a shame for that to go to waste because a domain wasn't renewed or hosting wasn't paid.

How many of you have plans already made out and have informed somebody about the absolute "must know" details about your business? Even the simple stuff like collecting checks.

99% of webmasters have not im sure.

I have pretty much told my uncle what to do in case this happened. I have given him estimates on what my sites would go for and who to use as a reference when dealing with my sites.

If I die someone will take over and continue the business I had started.

everything would run automatically forever. i have it all on auto-pilot.

I would get a job :)

I have a will parts of my biz are in that will and people know password, domains and company info that should work out for the most part

Yes alot of sites will never get updated but the money should end up in the right place.
I hope ;)

I have taught my wife all that she needs to know and have shown her how to run things on a day to day basis if needed.

My house would be paid for, my wife would get a nice wad of cash (enough to comfortably continue on indefinitely, barring a total economic meltdown) and she'd be the sole remaining signing officer in my corporation, thus with total control of all corporate assets and incomes.

Hm. I may be worth more to her dead than alive. I think I'll start eating take-out more. :uhoh
