I am confident that with a name like Wilma, the storm may be strong, but the death and destruction minimal.

I did not name her Wilma for nothing.

I have tried to call my family, but can not get in touch with any of them. They are more in the Tampa area, so I dont think they go hit that bad. But makes me wonder.

dropped9 10-25-2005 11:03 AM

Dirty D 10-25-2005 11:27 AM

All good in the Tampa Hood.

Windy and cool but no damage here.

Had to pass the time comforting some sluts :winkwink:

CIVMatt 10-25-2005 11:29 AM

None of us cared in Orlando, woke up and it was freezing though.. too damn cold, oh yeah my dog lost a tooth and I'm out of beer... on second thought Juicy, SEND HELP!

LauraLee 10-25-2005 01:06 PM

Hey Juicy,
Not sure how many (south florida webmasters) will be able to respond. I was lucky and caught a flight out before the storm hit. I am in Atlanta now and have spoken with my family and have fortunately been able to reach most of my friends.
100% of Fort Lauderdale has no electric and many have no running water either. I did hear that some now have a trickle coming thru their pipes, so that is one step in the right direction.
Friday night at 1:30 a.m. my parents were in bed sleeping when they both woke to what sounded like a freight train bearing down on their house. My parents have high impact hurricane windows so they don't have to board up and can watch what i going on unlike those who have the conventional shutters and are basically in the dark as to what is doing on outside the boarded up windows. Anyways, they run to look out back and the lake appears almost like the ocean with waves and whitecaps. They turn on the TV to learn they are under tornado watch.
At first light they surveyed the property. They find a huge ass trampoline in their front yard that used to be in the neighbors backyard ACROSS THE LAKE! Turns out a twister did touch down in the neighborhood and from what they can tell pretty much skirted around my parents house. One street over a man thought his car was stolen, however it was in the road 2 houses down (tornado picked it up and moved it). Scary stuff.. and this was 2 days before the hurricane even came ashore.
A very large tree that was in my parents front yard came down and during the storm they lost a part of their roof. They didn't get hurt and are safe, and ultimately that is all that really matters in our books.
They are saying some won't have power for at least a month, that will be brutal no doubt. Of the 2800 street lights in Broward Country- only 16 of them were working as of this morning, which is why they have enacted a 7pm-7am curfew in an effort to keep accidents to a minimum and also to deter looting and whatnot.
Here is a little vid that shows some of the damage to the downtown area (i live just off las olas).

Video

My flight is rescheduled for Friday so i will be home helping clean up the mess then. Good luck to everyone affected.

If anyone is looking for any of the TCG or LoveDollars peeps please remember they are mostly all down in Fort Lauderdale and have no power/internet. I am doing my best to get anything taken care of that i can. So let me know if i can be of any help.

Wish you guys the best down there Laura...

For us in Tampa, as you hear/read we are clear, but it is wicked cold outside. Anything below 65 degrees and I start to freeze.

StudioCash Luke 10-25-2005 01:57 PM

Fuck why so many natural disastors :(

Same here! Didn't worry about it too much in Orlando. Was fun to watch my Halloween decorations spinning in the wind. Pretty chilly today.

Wow, that last few seconds in the video was really close to your offices and your home. Hopefully it won't be too bad by the time you get back home.
