What is it with people that get bashed on here?

Someone posts some of their work, which is not great to begin with....so, people bash that person and their work for being what it is, shitty....

so the person that posted the work gets all mad and starts calling everyone that bashed the work "keyboard warriors"

now, i have been in this industry 6 years, I am far from a keyboard warrior...I just like to speak my mind when something comes up for me to speak it towards....but for a professional company to come back with such a shitty unprofessional response just fucking gets me all mad and shit

if you run a company and decide to display your work in a public setting, there is no reason to come back when people don't like it and bash them and call names...that is unprofessional and disrespectful to anyone offering a serious opinion...even if that opinion is harsh and abrasive

some people in this business really need to take some etiquette or business related classes....so they would know how to deal with confrontation in a positive way

If more people did that, there'd be less random bashing for no good reason. :2 cents:

I have had a lot of people bash my work before, thing is I know I am not as good as some on this forum. I am working every day and for every client I get, I get that much more experience. I have some good stuff, some bad stuff, and some outright awesome stuff. It is all priced accordingly. So far everyone I have worked with has been satisfied. However it is extremely hard to pick up a new client when you have 50 people saying it sucks, no matter how much the potential client likes it.

If you want good work, pay for good work. Many of my samples were done during a special promo of some sort where the prices were WAY low.

WTF...

You have to remember that 99.9% people posting on GFY are surfers, and if they don't like your shitty content, LISTEN to them.
:)

I haven't looked at Jaces portfolio, but I will say this new sig is 10X better than the old one ;)

SilentKnight 10-25-2005 09:25 AM

That Matrix thread just goes to illustrate how some people bring the bashing on themselves. I mean, the guy posts mediocre pics while bragging they come from a $12k hasselblad with the topic title "would you hit it?" - thus inviting comments and critique from the masses.

Then, when a few of us offer well-meaning suggestions, he gets all defensive and personal about it...rather than respond to the critiques.

(shrug)

The hallmark of a true professional is one who appreciates honest feedback and realizes that constructive negative criticism is probably the most valuable in helping to improve one's skills.

There is a fine line between constructive criticism and outright "bashing". You will find a lot of folks saying some real rude things in threads like those. I can handle some criticism, in fact I encourage it. But when some asshole starts throwing up shit that has nothing to do with the work in a direct format, then it becomes a bash fest. Soon as someone points this stuff out, then others cannot look at it the same as if they had just looked at it for the first time.

I never post anything that I'm not willing to take some heat on ... that's why i post it ... no one is perfect and we can all use an outside view on projects ... sometimes when you work on something for a long time you don't see what others do ... i not only welcome comments good and bad but i take the advice a lot .. :2 cents:

That is all gravy so long as it isn't biased by someones outlook on a person or their character in the biz in general. Another thing is, that some folks like certain styles while some don't. I welcome these comments cause it allows for you to build on a style to make it versatile in the eyes of many.

Doctor Dre 10-25-2005 09:55 AM

Totally agree ... if you want public exposure, deal with the truth : Most of the time, your job sucks and somebody else can do something better.

My opinion is that if you want to present your work you must be prepated to endure the criticises. Not all people can love you and not ppl can hate u either. It's just the way things are in this damn small world :D
