Horror Movies To Watch This Halloween

I like the classics:

The Crawling Eye

Straight Jacket with Joan Crawford

Donovan's Brain

My mom used to keep me up at night watching old horror movies on the old 'Creature Features' and 'Chiller' theatre shows that ran on the tv stations in New York. Fuckin' 'Chiller' theatre had a fucking scary ass opening with a six fingered hand that was stop motion and used to scare people silly.

You can try Jeepers Creepers 3. I've watched it on film and it's definitely scary.

It's very rare for me to find a color movie scary. Last color movie that was scary was the original "The Fog" and John Carpenter's "The Thing".... Wait, the Alien movies because the Alien was scary looking.

You wanna watch someone crawl out of their skin, make them watch the original "House on Haunted Hill". Goshdamn that fucker had some real scares in it.

The Exorcist is beyond scary unless you're stoned and then it's like watching a fucked up Little Rascals movie.

Believe it or not, Nightmare on Elm Street movies never scared me. They were more like commercials for new home remodeling.

Hitchcock movies are scary. Best monster to come along in the past 50 years is the Alien. Prior to that The Blob was king. In 'The Blob' there was one scene that made the movie so realistic when the Blob attacked the movie audience and the entire audience hauled fucking ass out of the theatre. Real people run AWAY from the monster, not stay in the house.

Those Omen movies had scary music, but got boring because if it was real, the kid would have gotten his ass kicked after the first evil manifestation.

Blood and guts do not a horror movie make, suspense and shocks and 'unseen horror' spark the imagination which is scarier.

tristan_D 10-27-2005 05:59 PM

I have yet to see a horror film that will truly scare the shit out of me.

MrPinks 10-27-2005 06:25 PM

Nobody mentioned the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Some other goodies not mentioned:
Phantasm
Hellraiser
House of 1000 Corpses
Last House on the Left
Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Carrie
The Ring

miss wild 10-28-2005 03:09 PM

I don't want to watch horror movies, I'm really scared...

Greg B 10-28-2005 10:01 PM

Gross and bloody aren't scary. What's scary is when you don't know where the monster is. That's real suspense and horror. Knowing there's a threat and it's somewhere out there but you don't know 'when'. The original 'The Fog' was great at that. Anybody see the remake of 'The Fog' yet?
