Anyone else has a friend thats SCHIZOPHRENIC?

Well, I got one. I found out he was diagnosed with it a yaer or so ago. before that, I just thought he was a tad slow. And over the last two years. I've been distancing myself from this nut. Sometimes I think he has a mild case of Schizophrenia but at times he does and say things and it makes me thinks that there isn't such a thing as mild schizo.EVERY single time I go weeks without talking to him. He contacts me and LOSES his fucking mind. Sorta like how a female will go bananas if her boyfriend cheated on her. The other day he kinda overly spooked me though cuz he called me twice and left two spooky messages... This nut went CRAAAAAAZY over the phone... He snapped about me going out with two girls, getting drunhk and blowing MY money... He was basically saying that I should have done that with him. And to make thigns worse. I called him and confronted him about the voicemail messages. And you know when you on cellphones the person next to you can hear the conversation. So, I'm laying up with a female and I ask him "What is up with those message you left me"... He responds and says "those were messages of loliness". My girl looks at me like "WTF, are you gay now Deak. Why is a man saying he's lonely for you"... I'm sitting here like WTF! It's not like that... But yeah, it's hard as hell getting rid of a schizo ex-friend... Anyone else here a schizoid or know someone who is?

D-Money 10-24-2005 08:07 PM

My brother?

:1orglaugh

Rob 10-24-2005 08:12 PM

My friend Louie is. No I'm not, you are! Shuddup, you are! Now you're just being stupid, let's ask Paul. Fuck off guys, I don't want to be a part of this again.

Pornwolf 10-24-2005 08:16 PM

Sad. Very sad. There's not a lot you can do about that one.

mahoney 10-24-2005 08:19 PM

Yeah, funny you should mention this because one of the members of a band I work with is totally skitzo. He is almost 50 now but it started when he was in his 20's because someone dosed him with over 100 hits of LSD after a show one night. He has never been the same since and he never really came back from the trip. He refused to take medication for it or anything but he has like 3 different personalities plus depression which is a side effect of LSD. I heard the best thing for them is lythium :2 cents:

Morgan 10-24-2005 08:20 PM

i have a schitzo half brother

Big_Daddy 10-24-2005 08:22 PM

Once I had multiple personalities, but now we are feeling well.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

The best thing about being schizophrenic is that I'm never alone.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get you!

Hypochondria is the only illness that I don't have.

I've always been a hypochondriac. As a little boy, I'd eat my M&M's one by one with a glass of water.

Marshal 10-24-2005 08:28 PM

this is very sad to hear... schizophrenia is very bad thing to deal with... :(

Monique Niccole 10-24-2005 08:29 PM

Had one and had to cut her loose. She was a schizo and she fell in lust with damn near any guy she came into contact with. I could deal with schizo, but schizo+slutty was a bit much.

iwantchixx 10-24-2005 08:30 PM

My mom is skitzo. it sucks. She flies off the handle at times too like that over mundane shit.

Spunky 10-24-2005 08:32 PM

I'm lonely..will you call me? :helpme

Sly 10-24-2005 08:33 PM

When I first moved away from home I had a schizophrenic roommate. I have many stories. It was an absolute nightmare and I don't think I would wish it upon my enemies.

Doctor Dre 10-24-2005 08:33 PM

I've got a friend that might have some of thoses problems ... he's really fucking smart thought

my wifes aunt is the same way, she just turned 40, 22 years ago she never recovered from an acid trip and is nothing more than a child nowadays. Her parents have to go visit her every weekend in the mental ward. She must take about 40 pills a day to even stay sane. Pretty sad considering the amount of of white blotters, 4 way window panes and red lips acid i did back in the late 80's. I am thankful I came away unscathed :2 cents:

What does she take? Can she hold a conversation and act normal when she is on them? My friend just stares into space all day. If you ask him a question he gives you a 20 min rambling answer

Stamen 10-24-2005 08:48 PM

My grandma was, and my uncle is a schizophrenic. And that shit is weird, for example, my grandma thought that the mob was coming to kill my dad and make my mom into a prostitute and sell me and my brother off as slaves. But it wasn't until my grandma told my mom that we should all just go into the garage and leave the car running and commit suicide that my mom finally put her in an asylum to get help (my grandma wouldn't go on her own accord and you can't institutionalize someone unless they are a danger to themselves or others)

My uncle has some crazy shit where he thinks the government is coming after him and spying on him, and that they implanted a recording device into his shoulder, and that the people in the small town he lives in are spying on him and reporting it to the government, etc, etc.

So yah, good luck with your friend.

dynastoned 10-24-2005 08:50 PM

i have a friend similar to what you have described. he gets all butthurt when i don't hang out with him or call him every couple weeks. then goes all crazy calling me names and saying stupid shit. he has ADD and is very over sensitive. hes not gay as ive known him for 10 years and hes a good buddy. its just the way he is hes just very out spoken and sensitive no biggy i guess everyones different. so now i just call him every week or so to shoot the shit or we go out to a club or somethin and get all fucked up and shits all good.

but yeah i can see how you would think something like that. i thought the same thing when i first met him. hes just a normal dude thats a little over sensitive. the man your talking about probably doesn't have very many close friends and considers you one of his good friends. i don't know your entire story but thats just my opinion.

Matt 26z 10-24-2005 08:54 PM

My cousin has it. Here are just a couple examples of the many things she has done...

She was sitting in front of the 7-11 looking at a flashing light that was about to burn out. She claimed god was talking to her through that flashing light bulb, and she then said that's why they say "Thank heaven for 7-11."

A few months ago she started collecting board games and has them in her apartment in a huge pyramid. She said that the godfather told her that she must watch who comes into the apartment because once the stack reaches the ceiling it'll be worth one million dollars.

THAT is true schizophrenia. Brought on my massive drug use.

Also, some of these stories of overly-sensitive friends don't sound like schizophrenia. Those people see things that aren't really there. I think some of these people just went emo on you guys.

I once stayed on the same house with a SCHIZOPHRENIC back then in college. I only knew he actually had that problem when his mother told me that he does have a tendency toward such problem.

Pressure on school made him quit and I haven't heard anything from him after that.

Webmistres 10-25-2005 04:07 AM

I have been in contact with alot of schizo's back when I had a "real" job..

The only thing that helps them get rid of the voices and stuff is heavy meds.. The only problem is when they have been on meds for awhile and it's starting to work, most of them think they can do without and they have to start all over again.

I remember one guy.. he had no power in his house, cause even a lightbulb would send signals up the the bad people. He had on a tinfoil hat to protect him from them steeling his thoughts and shit like that.. Very strange !

But try to look at it from his side.. He knows hearing voises and seeing shit isn't normal and he can't make them go away on his own. Without any friends or relatives, who is there to tell him when it's going down hill and when it's time to get his meds addjusted? Once he is in deep he can't tell !

I feel real sorry for the guy !

SmokeyTheBear 10-25-2005 04:17 AM

yes i do

no i dont

SmokeyTheBear 10-25-2005 04:22 AM

there was a schizo when i was younger that used to catch the bus at the same time as me and a friend , he was kind of a town local , nice guy really , but a little strange , one day we followed him off the bus and hid behind walls and shouted out his name " hey tom " everytime we shouted hi sname we would hide, we did this 4 or 5 times , on the last time a couple was walking in front of him and he ran up to them grabbed the guy by his jacket collar and screamed " STOP SAYING MY NAME " and ran off. lol we almost shit ourselves.. damn evil kids we were :( ah well it didnt leave any longtime harm

je_rome 10-25-2005 05:10 AM

I've never had a schizo friend but I think it's really sad..

The Duck 10-25-2005 05:26 AM

I dont think its cool to laugh about these things. Its a serious mental illness that causes lots of pain to LOTS of people. Nothing good about it. But I guess if you cant laugh about it what can you do.

$$$ 10-25-2005 05:33 AM

I spend at least 14 hours a day online & 10 hours a day sleeping. I've done an incredible amount of drugs in the last 4 years. I'm 19. I'm so outrageously paranoid that it's taking over my life. I leave my house once a day to eat, or I just order food. It takes me until the point of near starvation to even leave. I'm always very late on paying rent because I'm too paranoid to leave my house. Last night I stayed awake in bed for an hour worrying myself sick, I eventually got up and went into the bathroom and looked in the mirror and said these exact words: "Something went wrong, something has seriously gone wrong with you, me, us."

I'm a pretty smart and witty guy, but holy crap did drugs make me completely insane.

Anybody know of any meds I should ask a therapist about? Anyone think I should get into therapy?

$$$ 10-25-2005 05:36 AM

I also get afraid when I talk to myself. So yeah, I'm probably a skitzo right here. I'm also very overly sensitive.

dylan4U 10-25-2005 05:37 AM

My Brother, my wife, my dad is bipolar and I am bipolar too. I know what you are talking about. These days there is lots of good madication for ex. Zyprexa. So he cen be quite OK

Kinky John 10-25-2005 05:39 AM

I'm a schizo . . and so am I :1orglaugh

No serious - its fucked up, but there's mild and not so mild cases.

s9ann0 10-25-2005 05:39 AM

I have a friend thats schizophrenic. I knew him before he went schizonphrenic I had to take him to hospital when he had the frist breakdown or whatever it was when he started to talk to himself and shit in my house.

Now he thinks the CIA thru an secret research organisation called P2 are sending stuff into his head with a machine thru telepaphy to try and send him insane.

He refuses to take medication and smokes weed all the time.

Staying on the computer too long and not getting out of the house has given you a certain 'comfort'. This is what brought on the anti-social/social fearing behaviour. Start by not taking drugs - make it a point to get out of the house. Take a walk, go out to eat, see people, call your family. If you see that after 1-2 weeks of doing this it continues or you don't feel better then go see a therapist.

Take care of yourself, don't let it get out of hand and get the best of you. You don't want to be taking pills for the rest of your life in order to be able to function.

Thanks for the advice, I should have found those things obvious....

Trixxxia 10-25-2005 06:24 AM

As for schizophrenics, the problem there is that once they feel they are feeling better, they stop taking their meds so it's a continuously vicious circle because you have to keep fighting with them to take their meds.

I have a second cousin that can't hold a job because of this. The moment he feels better and stops taking his meds the 'sticky' side of him comes out (where he thinks he has a right to demand what you are doing, why you haven't called, invites himself wherever you go) and people start feeling that he's a freak. There are like 20 locks on his front doors and everyone is an FBI agent (but we're in Canada). The difference with him is that he likes going out and talking to people - he just doesn't make sense sometimes. He thinks martians took a good bunch of his sperm and impregnated all the women around him.

It's really sad because maintaining a normal life for the entire family becomes impossible. :( Good luck to your friend.
