Oxeo Hosting Drama (pics)
Ok normally I don't do this, but I tried to resolve the problem with the guy and he was an asshole about it. Then he only made the problem worse by ruining one of our $7000.00 servers.
Here's the story: Micahel - Owner of Oxeo Hosting was hosting a couple of our servers we had for an adult project. We got our first servers around October 2004, we signed a one year contract for the servers. Time went by and things were growing so we decided to add another server. However this time the server was high end around $7000.00 so we had to buy it ourselves. Well without telling us, Michael sends over a new contract which I signed without reading because I wasn't expecting anything dodgy, well he snuck into the contract to extend all of our servers another year. Not just the one new one. Anyways what brought this to my attention was when we were having hosting isues with them. They kept telling us everything was fine, but my techs showed them foolproof data that there was a problem, they said we were right and fixed it. We had more bad service so we decided we wanted to move the servers. He tells me to pay him I think it was like 7 months of hosting left on the contract and he would send me my server. So he's holding it hostage until I agree to pay something. I told him that was bullshit and agreed to pay 3 months hosting just to get out of the contract. I think that was like $3k. Ok well here is the kicker, so the guy sends us our server and I swear it was the worst packing job I ever saw. Now don't forget this is an $7000.00 server. I've seen 90 year old grandmas pack $10 nick-nacks on ebay better than this guy did. When I saw the box I knew it was gonna be bad and sure enough the server wouldn't even turn on, we reseated everything and it kept crashing. We had the guys at Jupiter Hosting working on it and finally the Dell guys just replaced about every part there was to the server. So I'll be kind enough to include some photos so you can see. In short, this is OUR bad experience we had with him, I found it very unprofessional I will personally never deal with him again nor will I ever recommend his hosting company to anyone. http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/DSCN0243.JPG http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/DSCN0242.JPG http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/DSCN0241.JPG http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/DSCN0240.JPG http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/DSCN0244.JPG http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/DSCN0245.JPG http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/DSCN0246.JPG |

I've seen another thread of bad service from that guy a while ago ... defintily will stay away now ... Not a way to treat sa customer... especially when you can take 10 mins and 30 $ of packaging goods to save a 7000 $ server ...

buy some Sun V20z's.. theyre fucking monster 1u servers.. X86 based.. i can get you pricing --> staykeen at aol.com
|
hm doesnt sound too good
im hosted @ oxeo too btw |
It really sucks to see how juvenile people can be when they are in shipping mode, especially if they have a hard on for you.
What I find even more deeply disturbing about this thread is that you buy $10 knick-knacks from old ladies on ebay. |
I'm sure there's more to the story then what you've presented, but I'm honestly not sure it matters. The extension of the contract was shifty, the holding your server hostage was also shifty (I can understand if they wanted you to pay the remaining balance on THAT hosting contract, not your full contract however). Returning your server in that condition is absolutely inexcusable.
|
Holy shit. Every cheap book I got from ebay had better packaging..
|
Hi Allen,
I'm sorry that your server like that, I was not aware that your server was shipped in that condition. We've used the shipping center in our building for our outgoing packages. We provided them with the server and the shipping label and they sent it out. The package was insured and it was delivered almost 2 months ago if i'm not mistaken. Greg contacted me several weeks after the server was shipped and said he had some issues with it at which point I transferred the warranty to you name. I was NOT told of any physical damage to the server. The package was insured and i will attempt to file a claim with fedex, but it was delivered more than 45 days ago. I'm out of the office for the evening, but please contact me tomorrow afternoon and I will file a claim with fedex for this package. |
What can you do? Other than let everyone know I mean...

Thats a very professional response. Some people jump to sides very quickly without allowing both parties to respond. I was curious if it was insured, I couldnt imagine anyone mailing out a 7k dollar server without insurance. Any time you mail something, there is always a chance of something occuring, as if Oxeo hand delivered it that way. |
Just curious, what are the server specs :)
|
Dell 2850, I think 6x300gb 15k rpm scsi disks, a few gigs of ram..

Oxeo Hosting added to "do not do business with" list.
|
i think oxeo need to do something now...
|
holy shit... look at the fucking box....
|
Bleah it sucks... well mate from now on read the papers more carefull.. there are a lot of bitches out there trying to trick u.
|
was there anything else padding the sides of the server besides a little paper and that thin bubble wrap? looks like a shitty ass job lol
|
Aside from the nice pack job, the connectivity was crap.
You could do 3 megabit downstream, but couldn't go more than 40kB/second upstream. It wasn't bad cabling because you could transfer server to server at normal speeds, and the tech's wouldn't tell us anything except it was fine. These guys are a bunch of amateurs. Just look at the pack job. Just some paper, and a thin peice of bubble wrap.. http://www.acesblog.com/gfy/oxeo/oxeo.jpg |
Wow that sucks, if I were in Oxeo's shoes I would write off the rest of that contract they have with Datinggold in good faith for the inconvenience of that server being damaged.
At least the box was insured, the only saving grace of the matter. Just my 2 drama cents ;) DH |
thanks for letting us know.
I always had a feeling its something fishy there. |
$7k...It was a nice server. :eek7
|
i would flip the fuck out if they did that shit to me.. are you in nyc? i would pay them a visit
